Family Practice of Middletown: Giacona Caryn M MD

If there was a zero star or a negative star i would choose that. This lady should not be allowed to have her medical license. She knows absolutely nothing about certain medications but prescribes them anyways. She is extremely non-personable and does not give you the time of day, and doesnt even care to listen to what the patient has to say. She only requires you to see her every 3 to 6 months. But why i give her a zero or one star is because she prescribed a certain medication to my fiance, and has been doing so going on four years now. Well as of less then a week ago she denied her treatment, said it was illegal for her to see her because they didnt take her insurance. Which does not matter, if she wants to pay cash they can still see her. We verified that with the insurance company. But she denied her visit, would not even talk to her and had the lady at the front desk attempt to explain what was going on when it should not and is not her place to try and explain. It should be Dr. Giacona or the owner of the practice Dr. Thompson. I will not say on this review the name of the medication. But i have done tons of research and talked to many people who take the same or similar medication. And its one of only TWO substances that you can die from withdraw. And what really set me off, is Dr. Giacona said "Well i dont think its dangerous for her to stop taking it". Which is by far the most ignorant comment i have ever heard from a doctor. She should not be allowed to have a license if she does not even know what she is prescribing. My fiance, if we had not found her another doctor could have died once she ran out of medication. Its possible to have a seizure and die. And Dr. Giacona did not even know that. Needless to say, this entire practice is bad, its a joke actually. I am appalled and absolutely shocked that any doctor at that practice has a license to be an MD. Myself and my Fiance will be making a formal complaint with the New Jersey Medical Board on what has happened and i very much hope that the Medical Board investigates the complaint. Cause i would never want anyone to go there and get mis-diagnosed and in someway be harmed or anything of the sort. So please, potential patients beware. This is 100 % truth and i would very highly recommend finding a better doctor, any other doctor that doesn't have some of the complaints that this practice does.

Dr. Giacona is the best Dr. in Monmouth County and the entire office is professional and accomadating! I would give Dr. G. a 10. Not all Dr. have personality and she is the best!

Uncaring and rude staff, misdiagnosed one of my family members and made their condition worse. The doctors never take the time to try to figure out what’s wrong. Never going there again and would not recommend to anyone.

The reviews are being monitored and not all are being posted. From this office, I have had doctors being recommended to me who no longer update their Board Subcertifications. In MY book this is essential. You must be up to date on ALL your certifications. If your not up to date, your missing critical criteria that is essential for giving the best care possible. If that is missing your screwed..

Everything is great here! Easy to get an appointment. Listen to and answer my questions. Good balance of checking things out but not going overboard with tests. Highly recommend!
