Great place to bring the kids or just to spend some time in the outdoors. Large zoo with plenty of displays, large areas for the animals and a huge playground for the kids. If you like a great zoo this is it. Memberships are cheap compared to the cost of entry. I purchased the Friends membership and plan on bringing my great nieces and nephews along to check it out. Membership also works at its sister zoo. Much smaller but worth going if you already have the membership.

Franklin Park Zoo is a fun place to go because there is a ton of activities to do if you're bringing children. The activities may vary but if you look closely you can find different animal footprints to follow along the sidewalks. While I was here, I had a good time playing a makeshift detective game with my niece and nephew and having them try to figure out which foot prints belonged to which animals. One of my favorite exhibits was the lion enclosure. While it wasn't anything entirely different from other zoos, Franklin Park Zoo had a safari style jeep that was built into the glass wall in which you can sit in it. Sitting in the jeep made it feel like you were in some sort of African safari driving among the lions (although the lions were just lounging around when we sat in the jeep). If looking at animals is not your thing... you could also lounge around the food areas and eat things like hot dogs or dip and dots (idk why you'd opt to do this though). Either that, or you could play on the various animal themed jungle gyms around park.

Lions here are gorgeous! Really! I think I took like a million photos. Good place to visit with Kids. It's a good size zoo. A couple of hours maximum 3 is good enough to cover the entire place I think. They have a white tiger as well! Very interesting place. I'd go here again.

Very family friendly! The animals are well cared for and well loved. There are many play areas for kids and great places to picnic. The peacocks roam freely and you could spot them anywhere. If you live close by, definitely buy a membership. The park is beautiful and the parking is free.

As far as zoos go, their animals have a good amount of space to roam. The peacock that wanders free is a delight. Keep an eye out for the old stone tower, Sargent's Folly, near the Tiger and Lion exhibits. Outside the Bird House, a gorgeous pagoda that has been there since the zoo originally opened, be sure to visit the curious, friendly, gregarious Kea birds. The red panda is a favorite with my children and they love walking through the butterfly exhibit hoping a butterfly will land on them.
