This place was quite good. They serve food all day, but I visited for breakfast. I had fried chicken and waffles, which was an excellent choice. The checked was crisp on the outside and still juicy and tender inside. The waffles were savory, not sweet. Great together and with the bourbon syrup. They also had pretty good black coffee. The space is comfortable with a welcoming atmosphere. The service alittle slow and disjointed the morning I visited, but someone was being trained which seemed like a decent explanation. The food and atmosphere more than made up for the service. You should definitely give this place a try. Your stomach and taste buds will thank you.

Oh, my goodness I loved the food here. I wasn't familiar with this chain, but I'll seek them out again. I had friend chicken, greens and (I think) mashed sweet potatoes. Dee-licious, every single bite. And there were a number of other things on the menu that looked equally tasty. The staff was great--very friendly and accommodating...and good despite having to deal with a mini-flood while we were there! Some a-hole had set off the sprinkler system (the staff posited that they must have held a lighter or match up close to it to set it off), and the water slowly but surely rose throughout the restaurant. We just moved to a table in an area of the restaurant that was a level up (by the bar). Definitely coming back when I'm in this neck of the woods. Also loved that the Hen Quarter we visited was in Penn Quarter. I'm a sucker for a funny rhyme.

I visited 2 of the locations on the same day. This one and the one in Silver Springs had good customer service. I can to this location for lunch on Friday and ordered the Chicken & Waffles and a drink at the bar. The food came out so fast I was skeptical about how fresh it would be but wow the chicken was so juice and SO BIG! I got a wing and a breast and the breast was huge I took most of it home for later. The waffle was great I would definitely order this again but I would have to share it because it's too much for one person. Later that night I went to the location in Downtown Silver Spring to get a salad to go. I went around 15 minutes to closing time but they still had a good amount of people sitting down and also at the bar. The hostess took my order and put it in. It took about 20 minutes for me to get my salad which is a little long considering the salad I got. I got the Southern salad and in the description it says something like "spears of romaine lettuce". I honestly should've looked up pictures before I ordered but I didn't think about it too much. But I was disappointed and honestly amused that I really did get spears of Romain lettuce that I had to cut up and basically make my salad from. I can't even imagine how that salad looks played on a dish. I definitely think they should rethink that menu item and cut up the lettuce for people because I'm not paying $11 for a salad for me to have to cut my own lettuce Also it's a bit pricey. My bill for my chicken and waffles and drink was $31. I guess considering I basically got half the chicken but jeez it was pretty intimidating when the food arrived lol. I don't own the picture of the salad.

Small portions of typical soul food. Nice decor. Julep cocktail for brunch is not minty and overly strong; stick to the mimosas. One gender neutral restroom upstairs and more stalls in the basement. Service was friendly, but the food was very unsatisfying. Biscuits are on warm side but they gave barely enough gravy for two in biscuits and gravy entree. Likely won’t return.

Excellent chicken! Went for brunch with my wife and we had chicken and biscuits and chicken and waffles. Her sausage gravy was delicious and the chicken was fried perfectly. My waffle was slightly crispy outside, soft and magnificent inside, and still porous enough to saturate with an appropriate amount of maple syrup (which was great in the chicken, too). Everything was tasty and it was a nice experience all around. I'll definitely go back for happy hour and get some chicken cracklings and to try their deviled eggs.
