Oohh's & Aahh's

Nice place. Food was decent. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Offered food suggestions for us as first time visitors, which is always appreciated. Short ribs were little bland and could stand to be seasoned more but were tender. Mac and cheese was bland as well. The chicken wings were good and so were the string beans. Overall, not super impressed- decent food, but didn't quite hit the spot.

Good food. Good people. Slow service. Fried Whiting is everything you'd expect it to be. The fried shrimp were fishy, they had that sea taste. I didn't bother me I love seafood but I know others wouldn't like shrimp that tasted fresh out of the sea.

The staff were super friendly! You feel welcomed from the moment you walk in the door. The place smells like grandma’s kitchen on Sunday after church 😌. I ordered the blackened catfish, Mac and cheese and greens. Everything for the most part was just OK. The fish could’ve been blackened a little more, but that’s my personal preference. I moved to DC a little over a year ago and people really hyped this place up; that may be another reason I felt a little 😐 about it all. I may go again if another out of town guest just absolutely wanted to try it. I’m indifferent.

Pure excellence!!! Omg! First time to DC and my family and I wanted soul food, so we came here and was not disappointed! I ordered the whiting, with yams, max & cheese, and cornbread. All of it was amazing! The yams were to die for! The greens and wings are really good as well! Definitely will be coming back! 10 stars!

The sides were delicious, but the chicken lacked seasoning, I had high expectations for the chicken since it was soul food. If you are a race other than black you will get all eyes on you. The server was nice, but my friend and I were served our water in to-go plastic cups, meanwhile others had glasses. We also got wrinkled up menus while others got lamenated menus. The equality treatment was sad, but overall it's a 3/5. My experience was at the Georgia Ave location.
