My recent rental car experience at National DC was excellent. I was able to choose any car in the section and I chose a very nice (and new) Pathfinder. the process was easy and fast. The vehicle was excellent to drive. I was able to return the vehicle to Dulles airport and that process was also seamless. thanks Hertz!

After an unexpected flight delay had me and my baby arriving at 2am, I was annoyed to discover that BUDGET, with whom I'd reserved a car, was closed. In fact every rental car company in the airport was closed -- except HERTZ. And thank the stars for it! A friendly and professional young man named Steve sensed my frustration and graciously offered not only to give me the same discounted rate I'd received from BUDGET but also upgraded me to a nicer model at no extra cost. And what a difference that made! I was perfectly happy to drive a Ford Focus (the one I'd reserved through BUDGET), but the new Nissan Altima I had for the week was a real treat. Clean, comfortable and luxurious.
Prior to this trip I'd only ever used HERTZ for moving trucks. Those were always the best trucks in my experience, and I should have assumed that their cars would also provide a high-quality experience. From now on I will look to them first if I need to rent a car.
Thank you, Steve, for making a crappy situation (by myself at 2am w/ a 6-month-old baby) so much better. I really appreciate your courtesy and professionalism. Cheers to you!

Hey Everybody - Whats the Beef?
Hey Guys and Gals - I was treated so politely, handled so kindly, and listened to so compassionately, I ask what more can a customer ask.
The crew was so nice at check in, and as I left another of the staff gave me directions where to go to get to the metro. Meanwhile a third staff located a small thing I had left in the car and brought it over to me.
I would not have missed it till I got home, and it was a tiny thing, but important to me. Thanks Hertz. I appreciate your staff.
The car worked out OK too.

I have never been more disgusted and angry at a car rental place in my life. Our flight was delayed and the company where we had originally booked a rental was closed. However, even though Hertz was open, they refused to assist us because we had not made a reservation. This meant that we had to spend the entire night in the airport with a sick one year old and could not even leave to get him medicine. I will never rent from a Hertz ever again and I will advise all of my friends to avoid them as well. Absolutely despicable.

I hated this place but I would like to explain why I gat them 4 stars.. The call center completely screwed up my rental a luxury car I need for my daughters car for Prom chauffeuring.. they allowed me to drive an hour from my home to this location in hopes that I would receive the car they assured me They would have! I got to this location not only did they not have the car but they said they never have that SUV and they didn’t have one even close in size that was comparable.. I was livid it was my daughters prom day and I drove an hour for that SUV.. Thanks to the manager Cleophus I received a nice car and he accommodated me and made sure my daughter was happy! The call center sucked and because of them I will never use this place again but the manager went above and beyond and that’s why I gave them 4 stars.
