Advantage Rent A Car

After renting on Hot Wire and provided Advantage as the chosen agency, I read some questionable reviews. I had a great experience. Joanne in the counter was friendly and efficient. Issues with using the tolls in the area were clearly explained as to how to avoid surcharges, and the shuttle was timely. Good experience and good price.

Easiest rental I've ever done. No attempt at typical car rental scams. Car ready, in and out, fast. Super cheap. Returned and shuttle to airport with no problem. Great service!

Don't rent here. Had a car dump all of its oil on the ground overnight and had to be towed. Luckily I was able to tow it to Dulles and got a replacement hassle-free. 2 months later I have the company that does claims for them calling me about a $183 repair that had to be done. The car had no physical damage and I have pictures to prove that. The claim company told me that Pep Boys did the repair, but couldn't tell me what the repair was. No details whatsoever. All he could tell me was they did an oil change. I am sure the issue came from a previous oil change where the plug wasn't tightened or something else went wrong, but if it was only $183, it couldn't have been much. It was not my fault. Never renting with Advantage again, in DC or elsewhere.

Though Advantage is off-site, it is worth the extra 10-15 minutes to get the best price for vehicles PERIOD. Plus, the stock of cars is just as good as all of the other vendors. There is a gas station around the corner, which makes it easier to gas and go than with the airport rental agencies. I have heard people complain about credit/debit card issues (can't pay with a debit card, name has to be the same as the reservation name, wife can't use husbands credit card) but that is consistent across the board for ALL car rental agencies, and is not an Advantage issue. The shuttle drivers are pleasant as well.

First the customer service agent couldn’t tell me where the temporary shuttle picks up due to construction at DCA airport. I took a taxi to the pick up location. I reserved a midsize SUV and they gave me a full size without telling me there would be a price increase. To top it off I was charged extra time when I dropped the car off 5 hours before my scheduled time! They want proof that my flight was at 715 such as a boarding pass but I’m a flight attendant who was going to work! I’ll pay extra for a better agency next time.
