A sports bar that mostly makes a living off the Wings, Tigers and Lions games nearby. That's not a bad thing per se, but Hockeytown Cafe could use a coat of paint and some renovations. Not that it is bad, but it just doesn't feel up to par anymore. The service was good though...Service: 4/5
The atmosphere was fun. The sandwich I ordered was absolutely disgustingly drenched in olive oil and quite horrible. Olive oil literally dripping down my arm when I went to take my first and last bite. I'd never go back there to eat. The wings were ok at best. The French fries were actually the only good thing we ordered.Food: 1/5
Everything was amazing. The only thing me and husband didn't like, is that the greeter got paid off by a customer to get seated ahead of everyone else that were waiting way before them. Which is pretty messed up, if you ask me. Sorry, but customers should be patiently waiting to be seated just like everyone else that walks through the front door. You should not be more privileged, or even slip money to the greeter because you don't want to wait for a table.
As a first timer, I’m absolutely dumbfounded at the lack of authenticity & quality at this place! For $20 you can catch yourself a meatloaf dinner on a prison plate! Cold & burnt … smoked by a pack of cigarettes. Tenderloin tips were more like crumbles. I’ll never be back!Food: 1/5
Cool place to eat before seeing your favourite Detroit team play. Really cool atmosphere. My only complaint is the lack of vegetarian options on the menu. The menu is quite slim, so maybe take a look at the options before going to see if something is there for you : Vegetarian options: Very limited.
Fast and friendly service and on top of that the food was good. We had potato skins as an appetizer. A pizza that my daughter said was delicious and my sliders and tater toys tasted great.
Where to begin, I think I'd start with the check in process which overall was fine, I get that it's NYE and it's busy but when the messaging system says a table is ready, why do I have to wait another 3 mins standing behind the hostess. Our waitress, was very well and served us with prompt and friendly service. One issue is that when you order an appetizer and an entree, one would naturally expect it to come out separate but not here, they don't follow that normal logic... which is weird since that's the normal way one does order food. The menu, very limited, was fine, typical pizza, burgers, salads is fine. Overpriced in my opinion but it's downtown Detroit on NYE during a hockey event so expect to get bent over on price.
This place is truly a joke. Prices are insane for a drink - Bud light for $7? And that’s for both canned and on draft. We showed up at 730 and sat at the bar - didn’t get served for about 15 minutes and we were the only people at the bar and in the bar area besides a table of 8. I asked to order an app and the kitchen is closed… on a Friday night. More than an hour before and there are two events downtown on the strip. The bartender was screaming at the rest of the staff for no reason too. We had one drink and cashed out. An $18 tab is not worth this place.
Love the Hockey Town Cafe. They don't have a large menu but they have enough of a variety that you'll find something. The food was good and not too expensive. The atmosphere is amazing and the service was really good. Any time I'm back home, I eat at the Hockey Town Cafe, you have to give it a try. Especially if there's a game that day, it can be a lot of fun inside with all the sports fans.
So I haven't been here in a while and decided to come out here for a comedy show with the wife. She had never been here before. When we came in we were greeted by the people at the door and led to a table. Our waitress Carly was very nice and professional. And she had a very upbeat personality. The music was 80s and 90s throwback hip-hop and R & B. Which was right up both of our Alleys. We were almost going to leave because my wife was looking for something a little bit different on the menu. But after getting a couple drinks and looking around at all the other orders that people were getting, she decided to stay. I'm glad she did. I ordered the hockey Town Burger and she ordered the Maurice Salad. And let me tell you it was amazing! And you can't go wrong with a side of tater tots and Buffalo chicken. Definitely will come back here again when we come back in June for the 70 Summer Jam. Thanks for a great experience guys and gals! Lastly, it's very rare when you go into an establishment in the restrooms are as clean as they are. But, this place takes their bathrooms very serious because when I came in it was immaculate! Thanks again.
