Island Lake State Recreation Area

Very nice range and the staff are great, very well managed. Like the covered shooting area, last 2 times I was there it rain and we stayed dry. If your looking for a nice outdoor range this is a winner. Comfortable shooting staying with blocks of wood and numerous bean bags. Use toothpicks to mount to the targets and they have them there, don't have to hall around my stapler 😀. They even rent spotting scope for 5 bucks. Try it I think you'll love it. You need a Park pass on your car but you can buy it there if you don't have one.

This place is absolutely gorgeous so peaceful! The wildlife here is awesome as well a few geese some ducks and encountered one big bird haha! And he was very friendly! You can kayak or canoe here! And the lake is big enough for everyone to swim in ! Surrounded by so much water and wasn't that busy !

Beautiful, big state park. Lots of wooded trails, big open hilly fields and gorgeous lakes. A state park pass is required, so it will cost money to get in if your don't have one but it's worth the price of admission and supports a good cause

My husband and I have been coming here since 1986 we put our canoe in at the dam my husband takes our vehicle to the end of our trip then rides his bike back to the dam locks it & off we go yesterday 5/27/18 We were told we couldn't go into the parking lot to unload our canoe the lot was full I wasn't parking just needed to drop our canoe they wouldn't let us thought that was unfair considering there were empty spots and the gate was still letting people in ...very disappointing and then when we tried to explain the girl just started yelling "Have a nice day " very rudely. I think they should allow you to launch your canoe or build a driveway just for that. Every year we've done this never been turned away even when full they've always allowed us to unload ...... Very upset now I'll find a new spot to canoe

I come here to go shooting, both pistol and shotgun. They have several styles of shotgun shooting (trap, skeet, sporting clays, and 5-stand) and have a 15, 30, and 100 yard ranges for rifle and pistol. Prices are very reasonable (15 For unlimited range time, 5 per 5-stand game, and 25 for 50 shorting clays - 2018). Given some places charge by the hour for range time, it's quite cost effective.
