I love hiking, swimming, and just lazing about. On this visit to Pickerel lake I was here to hike with myself and one other. Though too early in the season for most casual hikers and definitely too early for any swimmer in their right mind, the area was very well maintained. The trails were clear and well worn and from what I saw the beach was clean and clear as well! Pickerel Lake as well as all of the other areas in the Pinckney Recreation Area are very beautiful and a joy to explore and traverse.

It's a huge area. Kayaking at Crooked Lake was great no motor boats, lots of room. There is a nice rustic campground there. Bruin Lake Modern camp ground is also nice, we stayed in the rustic area, huge campsites and lots of room, the yurt there is a great set up with a full on bottom/twin on top bunk bed and a futon.

We love it out at Bruin Lake and going through all of the channels to the different lakes. It makes for a very fun day. We were out there for 8 hours on Memorial Day and didn't even realize until we checked the time.

Hey, guys. I love this park and come as often as i can. Especially for swimming. But yesterday, May 29th 2018 I and some other people fishing have seen a mature (!) copperhead (credit for picture to Wikipedia). It was about 3 feet long and was seen on south side of little peninsula (swimming area where dogs are allowed), in the water. Please, beware.

One of the best camp grounds in the area. They have safe clean beaches as well as two awesome mountain bike trails. Both trails are.for more experienced riders. They also have some fine hiking trails and a horse stables close by. The camp ground is divided into a tent area and a camper area. Typically has a very nice group of campers, not too rowdy.
