Lovely spot for a day or camping stay. The setting is idyllic with stunning views and the grounds are maintained in pristine condition. There is ample parking and a ranger is usually on site. It's located conveniently to many outdoor activities and only 10 min. from Woodstock, with many shops, art galleries and restaurants. Update: They're constantly upgrading. It now has a big off-leash dog park with two enclosures with sturdy, 5 ft fences. There is also a new, great, playground for kids, a kayak launch with boats to rent, accessible paths to the lake and a lookout, upgraded bathrooms and shelters. State parks do not get better than this!

My boyfriend and I stayed here as a base since we were coming in from Minnesota never seeing the east coast before. We arrived 2 days earlier than anticipated and the park employee was eager for us to start seeing the sites. I would also like to say we were in the off season so fewer people than normal. Our reservation where our site was already was in use so he suggested us to transfer our spot. We drove around the campground and found the perfect location. Just had to pay for 2 extra days camping no big deal it's to be expected. Showers are clean, bathrooms were clean bugs of course not to many but again your outside camping. We were never harassed like previous reviews I have seen. Site 63 we were in was very spacious. There are kayak and canoe rentals which we did not use but is offered. Could go on for days but I highly recommend this campground. It is quiet and no cell signal which I love especially for camping! Will go back!

Camped here twice now and had a great experience both times. I would certainly come back again. The campground is very quiet and family friendly. I've never had any trouble from the staff or other campers.
Things to be mindful of:
Some of the sites are rather close together, so choose carefully. Recently I stayed in 75C, which had a fair amount of privacy but was a bit close to the recycling center. Also, during my visit in summer 2017 I noticed the water had a strong sulfur taste to it. I didn't remember that from my visit during summer 2016.

Camped here with 2 dear friends 10y ago & can still fondly recall the great memories of this wonderful campground. Although the people make the time thus not necessarily about the venue, we all remember that Wilson Campground had everything just enough to foster a great camping time.

Great experience at this campground!! The sites like many of the reviews suggest are close in proximity BUT there is plenty of trees in between each lot AND the lots you reserve are very large and spacious! Beautiful star-y night views by just looking straight up, the lot I stayed at was a five foot walk to the most incredible mountain view you could see. It's a 10-15 minute drive to the beautiful hippie town of Woodstock and a bunch of beautiful natural occurring fresh water pools to swim in! My one biggest complaint was that they are not very strict at the site and security isn't very tight so at night some people like to just wander on the campgrounds and hang out to look at the stars which isn't an issue but not very comforting thought to have random people coming in and out. Also if you are addicted to your phone don't even bother coming staying here because there is NO cell service. Not at all. So get your directions ahead of time and tell your family where you're going (:
