Kirk Theatre (The)

Never got to see the show and was looking forward to it. I was taking my girlfriends out for an unofficial baby shower but went into labor eary. I emailed Thursday afternoon for a Saturday night showing. Asked for a refund but they said it was final sale.

Very small theatre makes for an intimate setting to catch plays. Nothing special about the place. Watched the Wonderettes. If your into 50's music than you'll love this musical.

We saw Newsical The Musical which was absolute rubbish and a complete waste of money, certainly don't think along the lines of UK tv shows (Have I got news for you etc) as it really is nothing like this at all. Don't get caught out as so many people seem to have been, including us... We just knew we had made a huge mistake when walking 'off broadway' to find this dingy rotten little back street theatre with appalling decor that barely holds maybe 40 people! - Put it this way, we wasted $103.50 and walked out after about 30 minutes as it really was that rubbish, four wannabes / people trying to be funny, it was so so poor that being locked in a dark room having your eyes gouged out with a blunt instrument would be more entertaining. Oh, I was not quiet on my way out either, I made it known that I was extremely dissatisfied and made as much noise in an attempt to voice my disgust which included door banging on leaving the tiny pokey little theatre. I just hope you have now checked this and other reviews before purchasing the tickets, having had some chap at the ticket booths tell you just how funny this place is and that he 'recommends the show' - don't fall for this !!! Please do not waste your money as we and so many others have done. You'll be extremely disappointed and just want to give the friendly chap a piece of your mind as he's just stitched you (and me) right up like a kipper and they now have your hard earnt. If however you've already purchased your tickets and waiting outside, you'll start to realise just how rubbish it is and how big a mistake you've now made when you are waiting outside and there are maybe only up to 15-20 other people who have also been stung and believed the chap about how hilarious this place is..It is a complete dive, extremely poorly decorated and then they want to charge you the earth for a bottle of water once inside... I am so annoyed they stitched me up, if I can save your money and stitch them up at least it will be some consolation.

Pretty expensive for what is a small dive theatre off Broadway. I felt a bit conned when I lined up at TKTS and handed a brochure for the Wonderettes only to find it was a tiny theatre. The show was great but not worth the money.
