My husband and I have been here every year that we've gone to the Samoset for our anniversary. This restaurant, located within the resort, is nothing short of amazing. The food is beyond description, truly delicious Italian themed cuisine. Although the menu doesn't really change, we have never been disappointed with a meal there. From pizza to chicken parm to veal to salmon, you're sure to find something you like. The staff is a delight as well! It is a bit pricey (about $30/person) but worth every penny. Be sure to get a reservation during the busy time (summer or ice bar).

It took over 25 mintes for us to get rhe drinks we odrered--1 mixed drink, 2 cokes and 1 water. We asked for bread. Got it but no plates, no silverware. Dinner came about 50 minutesafter we ordered. Dinner was just ok. Will not go back.

$30 pasta entree tastes like it's fresh from a bag off the back of a Sysco truck topped with lobster clearly frozen and thawed.

They stop serving at nine. We were seated at 8:45. The wine list is grocery store with Korbel being $40. The waitress couldn't find the wine we ordered by bin number. It’s there just for looks. We ordered an italian sparkling. She brought us a warm still wine. She went back and found the right wine but it was warm. She brought a bucket of ice and put the bottle out of reach and just sat the wine on top of the bucket of ice. We didn't drink it as the poor quality wine needed to be ice cold to make it palletable. They served lobster bisque and forgot to heat it. It was topped with two small pieces of partially frozen, dry lobster. The caeser salad was warm, and slimmy. It had one tiny anchovie in an oversized bowl of goo. The fettacini tasted like bad mac and cheese and the veal was tough and tastless drenced in brown stuff. It was a bery bad food and wine experience. I question why Maine resorts are putting Italian cuisine n their dining rooms. If we went to an Italian resort we wouldnt be looking for American cuisine. Though the atmosphere was beautiful, we can’t see spending any more money there. So sad as we remember Marcel’s and the top notch quality they provided.
