The Lowell Observatory offers a wonder experience for everyone! My wife, myself, and my 6 year had a fantastic evening visiting. I highly recommend making time to go whenever you are in the Flagstaff area. We arrived about an hour before closing on a Saturday night and I was so surprised to find that there were a good number of people here. The star tour and all the telescopes are a most due. My wife and I were thrilled when we had the chance to look at Jupiter and were able to see the color bands and the red spot! Never been able to do that on my home telescope. What an experience! Also if they have the large telescope open, even there is a wait make sure that you get a chance to look through it.

Wow what a treat. it is not often that you get to interact with a functioning piece of science history. Great talks at a variety of levels of scientific background. They were running three scopes the evening we were there and they had volunteers helping and discussing what you were looking at. I was please at the number of attendees and it gives me hope that other enjoy the facility. Highly recommend dropping by on a clear evening!

Thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the observatory, took in a couple of talks, and we like how enthusiastic the presenters were. Hailey gave a wonderful talk and we later saw her again at one of the scopes for viewing. We also appreciated how dark skies are being promoted and encouraged by some volunteers there too. Worth visiting again some day.

One of the must-do things in Flagstaff. If the weather is clear, best to go near sunset so you can take the early-evening tour, then walk around a bit while you wait for the telescope viewing. It starts just after dark, and there are typically several telescopes pointing at different objects. The line for the big telescope is well worth it! Note that yout ticket is good for re-entry that day, so you can visit during the day and then return for telescope viewing.

I arrived around 7 pm, in pleasant anticipation, to stay until closing at 10 pm. Perhaps i should have gone for the entire day, because the acoustics were not good in Bldg 17-Rotunda, even though i moved around from back to side. The young presenters generally spoke very fast with frequent usage of slang, too, which made it difficult to understand. The outdoor presentation was moved inside due to cloudiness from 9 to 9:15, but listed as 9-9:30. The presenter also said she would be doing the 9:30-10 pm presentation, so i left at 9:15 after the presentation. Viewing the moon through the telescope was wonderful; but, i thought it odd that no one knew when the actual full moon was, as it appeared almost full. The telescope outside Bldg 17 was great, even getting advice on how to take a picture with iPhone of telescopic image. Even though there were signs that no overnight camping allowed, a truck pulled into the woods. Also, just before the entrance area of the visitors center, there were many cars parked on the edge of the road which made departing difficult as more cars had arrived. The young man who was present in the Clark Telescope Dome was pleasant and informed, but only answered questions. I attended 4/28/18.
