Luke's Bar & Grill

I've been going to Lukes for the past 20 years or so. It's a solid neighborhood place. The food is standard American fare. Simple but good. It's family friendly so bring the kids. The bar seats about a dozen and the bartenders are friendly and efficient. For many years it was cash or check only. They now take credit cards.

Very surprised by all the positive reviews. No happy hour, $8 14 oz beer (really twelve since it's also a short pour). Their $12 margherita flatbread was basically just cheese, worse than dollar pizza for sure. The guy next to me has a veggie burger that just had horrible undercooked going of batter falling out of it. Honestly can't believe this place is still around.

At Luke's you'll always be treated like a regular. One of few places remaing in the Upper East Side that has such a feel. The staff is friendly, the owner can be seen chatting it up with patrons, and the food is consistent. All things you'd want from a neighborhood spot.

I placed an order through seamless- after the order was 35 min late I called to cancel. They claimed they never got the order and there was nothing to cancel. I asked them to double check because my card had been charged. They insisted they didn't have anything. No apology. This was at 11:15 at night. I went to bed at 11:45 and awoke the next morning to food left outside my door and my credit card still charged. I had to contact seamless for a refund since Luke's refused. I would understand if when I called they informed it was running late or that they would send it out shortly- but they claimed they never even got the order. The people who answered the phone were rude and unhelpful. EDIT: My doorman had the order all along???? Then why did when I call to cancel I was told they never received my order?????
