LUZ Shoe Repair

Luz moved from 23rd Street recently and I just found them again. Great job replacing the rubber soles on my Alden's, save a ton of money versus the factory and the quality is the same, the soles are light but not cheap, excellent quality refurbishment. They also shine shoes much better the majority of shine stands in the city. I am a repeat customer.

I've been going to Luz for many years (14th Street /6th Ave and 23rd street /5th Ave). Their $3 shines and soles and heels on Alden's English shoes makes them last for for 8-10 years. Always excellent craftsmanship at a reasonable price.

I went in to drop shoes for a shine and to get new taps. $23. Seriously!? $23!!! Mind you, I asked for cordovan polish and metal taps. I came back to dark dark brown polish and plastic taps. They said putting cordovan polish over brown polish to try to fix their mistake wouldn’t look right, so I said, “how about you just refund me for the shine, and I’ll live with the plastic taps? How much was the shine?” The four staff members then couldn’t agree of the shine was $10 or $15 (shines down the street are $4), until one spoke up and said, “The shine was $10; it was $5 to remove your old worn down taps.” Seriously!? No shoe place has ever charged me for that! They didn’t end up refunding me anything, so I spent $23 for a job done 100% wrong. Save yourself the headache. Go elsewhere.

Been going to Luz for a few years now with shoes from my wife and I. Always does an excellent job. Great for a quick shoe shine too. Very friendly and reasonable prices.

I have been going there for many years and they do excellent work. I replaced soles, cleaned boots, shoes, and put plastic and metal taps.
