I came here based on a friends recommendation. This is a nice place with great food. I tried the Mysore masala Dosa which was good but soggy. My wife took the podi masala Dosa which was the best among the dosa's we took. My friend got the onion masala which was good as well. We took the onion tomato uttapum which was great. I also liked the mini idli and vada. We ended with some filter coffee and it was pretty good. Do recommend this place.
Madurai Idli Kadai is a hidden gem for anyone looking for authentic South Indian tiffins in the Bay Area. As soon as you walk in, you'll be greeted by the delicious aroma of spices and sizzling dosa. The idli is a must-try - it's extremely soft and served with three types of chutneys that perfectly complement the delicate flavor of the idli. The coconut chutney, in particular, is a standout, with its rich and creamy texture and authentic taste. The sambar is another highlight at Madurai Cafe - it's hot, flavorful, and packed with a generous amount of vegetables. The rawa dosa is a bit of a wait, but it's worth it for the crispy, thin, and flavorful dosa. It's roasted to perfection and garnished with onions, giving it a unique and satisfying texture. The alu masala that comes on the side is the perfect accompaniment, adding a spicy kick to the dish. The ambiance of Madurai Cafe is simple and the seating is tightly packed, but that doesn't take away from the overall fantastic dining experience. If you're in the Bay Area and craving some delicious South Indian food, Madurai Idli Kadai is a must-visit.
Heart fulfilling! It's absolutely authentic and felt like home for every bite. People generally seem to order dosa here. But try their set dosa with vada curry. It's one of the traditional dishes and can't be found often. I loved their vada curry with a hint of mint flavour. It's a very small place and so seating is difficult. It's often crowded too. But there is a better chance of seating if you go here for dinner instead of breakfast.
Amazing South Indian food. Visited this place for Saturday brunch. Was packed with people. Took us some time to find a table but once the food was served, we relished every bite! Must visit for some simple soulful South Indian food.
Finding an eatery in US that serves good Bisi Bele Bath a spicy rice-based dish popular in South India is like stumbling upon a multibagger stock. MIK is one of those rare places!
Authentic South Indian food. The idli and dosa varieties are amazing. We tried the specials peanut khara dosa. Sambar and chatni is really good. The pongal was okay, however lacked a bit of flavor. The filter coffee was up to the mark. Strongly recommend to dine in during non-peak hours due to limited seating inside. Suggestion to order a take out at this place and enjoy at home.
One of the BEST authentic South Indian restaurant having a reasonable price. I loved the taste of dosa, it was crispy too. I was little disappointed by masala quantity but overall it was great. Kara masala dosa - if you love spicy food, this dosa is the best one. Idli vada combo - idli was soft and very well cooked. Vada also tasted great. Poori masala/Chole puri - puri was good but I didn’t enjoyed chole taste wise. In past I ate authentic Chole so I felt authenticity is missing from this dish and mainly that’s why I felt like giving 4 stars but I didn’t. I will definitely go there next time :
I love how affordable, homely and great food this place offers. I go here every time I am in the area. I took a filter coffee and 3 idlis that come with sambar and three yummy chutneys - coconut, green and tomato chutney. Quick service, great portion size. Friendly staff. I paid $13.50 for the two items I mentioned above which I feel is very reasonable. Parking is right in front of the restaurant.
It's just another place to get some Indian items. The green chilies were not diced fine and stood out in a bad way in my onion - chili dosai. Coffee was meh. It feels filter coffee in BayArea is really not that great. Crowded, small, and quick to eat place. Eat only if you want to try this place out.
Ate breakfast. Pineapple kesari, Idly, rice pongal, poori, vadai, podi dosa with sambar and coconut and onion and coriander chutney potatoes kuruma and chole. Yummy . Congratulations staff and management. Good. Vegetarian options: Only vegetarian recipes. Methu vadai crispy. Idly, rice pongal with sambar and coconut chutney yummy yummy
