I’m an old guy. I don’t usually write reviews but I felt inspired after my experience yesterday. They had an upright bass that I really wanted, but I needed to trade other gear to make it happen. Eric patiently helped me work out the details- even while I flopped around like a tuna and whined about the trade-in prices, etc. They know their business, you won’t take advantage of them- but that’s Ok. That’s how they’ve stayed in business 20? years...but they won’t try to take advantage of you either. It’s not how they operate. They’ve earned my respect. Thank you guys!
P.S. I was out and gone with the bass and a different guy came out to the parking lot with a nice gig bag for it. Eric had not traded for the bass and didn’t know-they could have sold it to someone else- and put another $100 plus in their pocket- I wouldn’t have known...

Always helpful and have searched for cords or other items for me, helping me get back on the road to fix another sound system. Great guys.

Ok, here's the thing. These guys are normally really great. They do know their stuff, and although, it's the classic music store "walk in the door and get a slightly condescending look before you are semi-reluctantly asked if they can help" sort of vibe that I find to be pervasive across the whole music store world (Except Twin Town Guitars!), they really are good guys and want to get you set up as best they can. They even take time to get to know you a little bit.
That said, I took a telecaster that I built from scratch to them to diagnose a pickup (which I purchased used from them) problem. I figured it was my novice soldering skills - turns out, the pickup was bad (issue #1). So, we decide to have them order a new one. They were great about it, and honored the price of the old pickup and applied it towards the new one.
"You'll have it by the end of the week. We'll give you a call."
It's been 2.5 weeks and I've had to initiate communication 5-6 times to get updates, only to hear "you'll have it by the end of the week. We'll give you a call." I got a call today, saying that their "insider guy" at Seymour Duncan is backed up and having trouble fulfilling order, so...
"It'll be here Tuesday (4 more days, pushing this over three weeks). We'll give you a call."
Now, I really am not one to harsh on a business or their owners for something they claim is out of their control. However, seeing as I can push about four buttons on my phone and have a pickup here tomorrow, a Saturday (via Amazon), I have a really hard time believing it takes 3 weeks to get one here through their "insider guy". Further, the communication was severely lacking, and I'd recommend not making timeline promises that can't be kept.
Will I go back? Yes, several times, probably. But, not to order anything through them (unless absolutely necessary), or have any work done on my instruments.
Good guys, yes. Decent store, yes. That doesn't mean they don't have a few wrinkles to iron out, at least in my experience. Just thought I should share for any prospective customers.
Update! The work they did on my telecaster setup-wise was very very good. I've updated my review to reflect this.

Always helpful staff. Never pushy. Laid back place with lots of new and used instruments.
