Excellent Museum..... well put together. The museum is laid out in several formats and genre in which the entire story of black oppression and the Civil Rights Movement unfolds to eloquently capture and express the time line from the early 1500's slave trade up to the conviction of the murderer of Martin Luther King (God Rest his soul) and Beyond. Plan for a multi-hour visit and possibly a follow up other day visit, so much history and information packed into layers and layers of artistic and creative displays, documentation, photographs, proven research, plus building preservation and true-to-lifeform displays, including the actual Rosa Parks bus and automobile. The museum takes you through a process of experience like no other museum I have every been to. The format , lines, colors, facts all flow gracefully from floor to ceiling in an unforgettable and highly touching educational and moving experience. At the Lobby entrance the big black sculpture is absolutely transformational. As I looked at it closely it prepared my heart mind and soul for the museums stunning over-all broadcast of facts. The relevance of those facts is clearly presented in brilliant segue, transitioning organically into the progress of modern society, the formation of the free economic world, and the densely woven fabric of African cultural influence in almost everything we normally take for granted.

I'm so glad I finally made it to this place before leaving Memphis. What an experience. Decades of passionate work collecting and curating the information of the civil rights movememt and the efforts of Dr. King make this place chocked full of relevant history. The lessons of the past ring true to this day which is why places like this are so important. The museum has a great flow as it takes you from one era to another until you reach the final exhibit, the rooms where Dr. King spent his last hours. If you take a visit, expect travelers from all over the world as your fellow patrons.

Each and every African American/Native American should go to this museum. Its essential to learning about the treachery that our people suffered during this era so in fact we do not continue to be oppressed from within by our decisions in life. Emotions will run high during this visit for people of all ethnic backgrounds so be prepared. We lost such an influential leader and many others who were just as substantial to us gaining freedom and rights deserved by all human beings. God will repay!

This is an incredible museum, well worth the price of admission. Mandatory to see when visiting Memphis, and I'd wager you will leave with some paradigm shifts and be called to action in the continued fight for equality. Take a few quiet minutes outside the Lorraine, and then spend a few hours being educated inside.

Absolutely a must if in Memphis. The museum is so well executed, designed and presented. All the media pieces are really good and modern. Very powerful and emotional museum. Give at least 2.5 hours if not more for this as it is bigger than it looks with tons of exhibits.
