Petco Animal Supplies

I went to this Petco to browse the fish section. They had 3 axolotls that all had visible injuries and were in poor condition. One axolotl in particular was in terrible shape- it was still a baby and its gills and some of its limbs had been eaten off by the other animals in the tank. It was also emaciated, appeared to have a fungal infection and was unresponsive when touched by its tank mates. I am an experienced axolotl owner and was pretty horrified to see this. I asked a staff member if I could be sold the axolotl at a discount, since it would need hands-on rehabilitation. The staff member spoke with his supervisor, who rejected the discount "because the axolotl will heal on its own." Honestly I will be surprised if this axolotl is still alive in a week. Anyway, they clearly wanted me out of the store, because 5 minutes after I spoke to the staff member, they turned off all the lights in the fish section despite the fact that it was not closing time. I left without buying anything because I don't want to support those practices. It was truly disturbing to see the lack of care the supervisor and employee had towards this dying axolotl. Its an animal that lives up to 15 years. As someone who values animal life, I can't bring myself to support a pet store that clearly does not care about individual animals.

Great staff here, very knowledgeable, friendly and professional. Always have what I'm looking for and I never see empty spots on the shelves. Clean as well. Good Petco to go to regularly.

Inaccurate information. Mistreated animals. Unknowledgeable staff. Not competitive prices.

I returned something with a receipt and still had to give all my information because I didn't have my sister's card who lives in Florida and they had to give me back 3.00. this was such a hassle and exactly why I don't shop at this store. Also store was disgusting. Very annoying experience!
