Powder House

We arrived for dinner at about 6 during Memorial Day weekend and were sat quickly. The restaurant was clean and the wait staff was quick and not pushy to get people out the door. Food was fine. Everyone enjoyed their entree. The buffalo burger was a bit dry and undersized for the bun size. The French fries were some of the best I've had recently. If you have a wheelchair, the interior is a bit cramped, but I believe a wheelchair would be able to access the interior with the threshold for the exterior door and the width of the exterior and interior doors.

This hotel was very close to Mount Rushmore and other attractions. My kids enjoyed the pool. There were deer nearby. There was some noise from the road, but I only noticed it when we had the windows open. The windows were good at blocking out the noise. The room had an air conditioner, but we did not use it. The porch was great and the room was spacious. My only complaint is that the coffee in the room was very weak, but I love strong, dark coffee.

Nestled in the forest, private cabins with peaceful surroundings. Close to many attractions. Cabins were clean and well kept. They have a restaurant on site so only have coffee maker & mini fridge in room. If you plan to rent a propane grill (only thing allowed in forest) plan to bring your own cooking and eating utensils, plates.

Excellent prime rib, horseradish and the house dressing but don't order the grilled chicken it is very dry. Good service and friendly staff.

Good selection of local wild game as well as tasty hamburgers and steaks. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff.
