Sylvan Lake Lodge

We stopped here for breakfast while exploring the surrounding area. Beautiful setting, great food at affordable prices. All the staff we interacted with were very friendly and helpful.

Nice place. Walking distance to the lake, hiking trails and an easy drive to mt. Rushmore or crazy horse. The room is pretty small and the bed is a bit hard but not a deal breaker

We stayed in a 2 queen bedroom cabin above Lake Sylvan (cabin 507). Cabin was well appointed, recently finished, and very comfortable for a family of 4. Very close to l local amenities, we hiked right from our deck to the Black Elk Peak trailhead. Needles Highway starts at the base of our hill. The lodge itself is a 3 min car ride to the top of the ridge. Staff is very friendly, but not always able to answer your questions about amenities within the park. Would be helpful if they would know basic information about offerings at other lodges within Custer SP and some info on some of the main activities such as the Buffalo Safari, the Chuck Wagon, etc. Cell service is non existent in the cabins and WiFi is spotty at the lodge itself.

Love this place, going back in August. Nice rooms, good employees, well placed in the state park. Do yourself a favor and go here sometime.

For a large reservation dinner party, we were treated above our wildest imaginations. Unparalleled service on top of the always enjoyable eats.
