Rare Steakhouse

Finally got to go to Rare Steakhouse on Madison's Captiol Square. Was wonderful. The food was superb, the ambience was beautiful, and all the employees were wonderful just as I had imagined and heard. The whole experience was amazing!! Just wanted to shout out THANK YOU to the Best Western Premier Park Hotel, all the managers, and to Rare Steakhouse and all their staff. We used our gift card from our annual employee work party. If you have not been and love steak, seafood, and wine this is a must!!!

Super secret restaurant week review! OK, so this was hands down my favorite Restaurant Week experience - we did lunch, 4/5 of us did Tennessee Browns (Louisville brown? it's like a shepherds pie sort of thing in a silver dish). It was AMAZINGLY good. I had been here for happy hour, but never for food, and the chefs outdid themselves. The food was rich, without being overwhelming. Tasteful pairings, good (not boring) spice levels, and the dessert was to die for. Will definitely return to see what the chefs come up with next year. Oh, also, our server was awesome! The staff here are great.

The food was really just OK. I think it was extremely overpriced for what you get. I had the grilled salmon and baked french onion soup. It was just good, nothing spectacular. The only good surprise were the popovers and 2 choices of butter brought as a complement to the meal. I really had my expectations high and was disappointed with the overall quality. The service was great. Nothing wrong with how I was greeted and served. I would walk past next time and find something more appealing.

Enjoyable meal and experience. Friendly helpful staff, good food, not amazing food. I had they dry aged rib eye. One waiter told me to ask about special steaks because there was an amazing 104 day dry aged steak. When I alsed our main waiter he said there were no specials.

So to be clear, the food here is good, and the atmosphere is great. However, when you consider the price for what you get, it's not a great deal. The steak was very good, but I've had better steaks for far less money elsewhere. The atmosphere is very nice, but not better than many other places. If somebody else is paying, I'm happy to eat here. However, if it's my dime, there are better options.
