Our experience was that the mineral hot tub was good but there's no ceiling, only covered with plastic above. Nice place but need a lot of up grade inside like we've to unplug TV or lamp outlet to use for charging our phones, etc... Also, no TV guide channels. You've to go through every channel in order to find your channel that you want to watch. Understand that it's historical hotel but need a lot of upgrading inside! View around is pretty.

It was a nice environment, excellent but kind of pricey bar, great food, and helpful service. I liked that I had a place to smoke that wasn't half a mile away. I know its not a popular habit, but most places make you feel like a second class guest for it. The beds were comfortable, and we had such a great time in our private hot pools that we didn't even bother going to Lava Hot Springs. Its where I intend to stay from now on when I go there.

My favorite place to stay in Lava! We stayed as a couple in a newly remodeled room, the king size bed was so comfy we stayed a 2nd night.
The large bathroom was beautiful! And as always the food and drinks at the Portneuf bar and grill were fabulous. The staff is awesome

I have been staying in Lava Hot Springs for over 20 years and I could kick myself for not staying at The Riverside before now. The Hotel is beautiful and historic. The rooms are clean, comfortable and beautiful. I will NEVER stay anywhere else again!

From the outside it doesn't look like much, but inside it's very charming. The rooms are clean and the staff is very friendly. There are three hot pools in the building that are private and have doors that lock. The restaurant in the hotel is nice. The food was delicious, though the portions were a little small. The building has been renovated but still retains it's original style. I would recommend it to anyone and would definitely go again.
