Sea Venture Custom Boat Tours

Captain Shaw gives great personalized tours of the waters around Mt. Desert Island. He knows lots about the island and its wildlife and is full of interesting stories. I first had a tour with him in 2007 and have since booked one every time I get up to Maine, including a trip I just booked for this summer. It's always the highlight of my visit to the island.

Captain Shaw is obviously obsessed with the Island and I can't blame him a bit. His decades of eagle research have no choice but to shine through on his tours. We were forced to hug the harbor banks due to 6' seas. This drastically limits our exposure to all the attractions and the good Captain made no mention of it. I have to believe this was an attempt to make our trip seem special. We saw porpoise hunting 50 yards off the stern! When an opportunity presented itself to identify a feature or animal, Winston knew the how, what's and where's... He busts at the seems with conversation so a word of caution to you would be to keep a focus on what your specific interests for the tour are. Would highly recommend.
