Shallow Shaft Restaurant

The Shallow Shaft we love is back! We have been regular customers and were disappointed after a meal we had back in January. Decided to give it another chance after finding out they had hired a new chef. Happy to report that they are back to serving the best food in Little Cottonwood Canyon. Had an excellent dinner last night (3/6/18) and wonderful service!

Amazing food. Way overpriced but no complaints, it's a really nice annual splurge. Service is always prompt and professional, and the experience and environment is really unique.

Good food in a cozy mountain location, at prices that reflect its proximity to the ski resorts. We've been going to the Shallow Shaft regularly for several years. Most recently (2016), the food was quite good, though perhaps not as outstanding this visit as in previous years. We found our waiter to have an oddly off-putting attitude, though - as if we were imposing by asking for our order, etc. I assume that's just a one-off experience; the other waitstaff seemed normal. We went with the wine selection recommended by our waiter, and I was quite pleased - a mellow Italian Cabernet that really worked with the meal.
