Simply Southern Cafe & Grill - Flowood, MS

Not many buffets in this area so we decided on this one. We made a good choice. Reasonable prices. Good selection of food.

Simply southern is just that, "Simply southern " the food is a southern style cuisine. There is the all you can eat buffet. It is priced lower than any other buffet that I have visited. There are different discounts on different days of the week. For instance, lady's day, the ladies enjoy a discount, there's senior citizens day, and such. They also have a punch card. Each time you purchase a buffet, they punch your card four time, the 5th punch is a free buffet.

Great salad bar good food Thursday's ladies day with free tea. Very friendly staff great desserts.

This place is hit or miss. If you get there when the food is hot and fresh, it's great. When they haven't had much business, it's bad. My visit at 5pm today was the latter. The food on the buffet had been there a long time and that should never happen at your 5pm supper time when people are getting off work and looking for fresh, hot food to eat. The baked chicken leg/thigh pieces were so dry and room temperature, it was like chewing cotton. The fried chicken was tasty but cold. The meatballs smothered in gravy were alright once you scraped off the hardened gravy. The green beans and the corn was old and shriveled due to having been there so long they had lost their moisture. The bacon in the green beans was tough and white in color which indicates it's been there a while. Like I said, this place is hit or miss. My last visit before this one, which was about 5 months ago, everything was perfect. Staff wise, everyone I interacted with were exceptionally nice, friendly and attentive. Not sure why the price goes up $1.00 at 5pm Monday through Thursday since they don't add anything additional or special to the buffet. Or didn't during this visit.
