Walnut Hills

We came here for dinner with my husband, and sister and brother in law. Wonderful comfort food! 2 of us had the shrimp and grits - and even though the portions are large, we ate it all! Just the right amount of spiciness. My hubby had the fried chicken and they were flexible on what part of the chicken you wanted. Our server was fun and friendly but not pushy!! Great experience and I think we are going back there tonight!

I visited with two other coworkers at night. All three of us had the seafood platter. One person was fried and two of us grilled. For a fairly expensive entree I was very disappointed. The small piece of catfish was exceedingly salty and had several bones. The gulf shrimp were tiny and there were 3 or 4 of them. The whole entree barely filled the center of the plate. I also ordered a gin martini and it did not meet my expectations for what they charged. Never again will I visit. This place is overblown, perhaps due to the fact that it has little competition in Vicksburg.

Located in an old house built in 1800's, service was great and food was delicious. The lunch plate entree I had was very tasty and the huge slice of Hummingbird cake was awesome. We hope to go there again before we head home.

We had the fried chicken and it was very good. My wife really enjoyed the smothered squash side dish. And we enjoyed the hummingbird cake for desert. And we especially appreciated the history of the building and the owners. Definitely worth the 2 mile drive off the highway.

We stopped for lunch while traveling back to Little Rock after a friend recommended it. The food was wonderful and Faye our server was so nice and attentive to all her tables. The only issue I had was we were seated in the far corner at a shamefully small table for 2 with a view of the restroom door. There were other tables available with nice window views but they were for 4 or more people. Seriously that little table in the corner was more like an side table for a sofa and not a dining room table. It needs to be replaced or use only as a last resort. But good food and great, friendly people.
