My mom stayed here for 2 months after having a stroke. First, I would like to recognize the handful of staff that actually worked. The others need extensive sensitivity and patient relations training. Most of the administrative staff cover for each other even if compromises the health and safety of individuals under their care. The recreational staff worked together as a team and get the job done! Interaction and keeping the patients engaged are key factors to wellness! There are about 3-4 CNA’s that I would say are “cut out for the job” and have compassion for the patients. The rest are only concerned about getting their job done and going home. I’ve even heard a CNA tell a 76 year old competent patient, “it’s time for you go to bed now” at 7pm. My mom had two incidents during her stay and one of them involved a CNA that chose to enter the bathroom while my mom was on the toilet and insisted on getting her pail filled up in the sink to assist another patient with bathing all while my mom was seated on the toilet. My mom informed her that she should of knocked before entering and her response was, “ I need to get water to bathe my patient!” She continued to argue her point with a patient who is 80 years old ( my mom) with hypertension and recovering from a stroke! Needless to say, this place has potential but there are number of BAD seeds that is causing this place to go down hill! Also, I’ve observed ONE CNA responsible for up to 10-15 patients alone during dining time. A few times I had to assist by preventing an elderly patient who has dimentia from getting out of her wheelchair and falling flat on her face! I also would like to commend the physical therapy unit. They work really hard. I would say a good handful need to be trained on how to work with the elderly and frail! Not everyone is cut out for the job! You MUST have compassion and EMPATHY! If not, remember KARMA! We all get old if we are lucky.

I rate 1 star in respect and admiration for the few wonderful hard working serious minded staff that are trapped in this place like my mom has become. Everyone my mom ever roommated with that had the ability saw the writing on the wall and got out of here quicker than fast and more than in a hurry. I wish them God's speed and brighter tomorrows and ask that they keep my mom in prayer that she'll one day soon be allowed to reenter the world. My brother didnt check this place out before he placed our mom here for rehab.
