Tahoe National Forest

I have always been taken aback by the natural beauty and drawn towards the serenity. This whole area provides a sense of peace. There is an abundance of things to that can evoke your adventurous spirit.

Seems like they should have awesome food, maybe we ordered wrong. I had the half chicken with 2 sides : grilled mushrooms and root vegetables. Husband had pasta. My chicken was super dry and the mushrooms were burnt.pasta was super sweet. We also had a salad that was good, wine was good.I guess we should order beef next time. Ambiance and service is really good.

Our family came here on May 27th for Memorial Day weekend. When we arrived at the parking area (free!), there were about 15 cars at around 10 in the morning. The way up is pretty steep, so I would recommend if you have a child, make sure they are prepared and fit to do the hike. If you take a couple breaks on the way there and the way back, it will take about three hours, including lunch. It is very scenic the higher you get on the trail. There are some snow patches along the way to the lakes. It is difficult to climb down but if you go fast, you could make it down within an hour. I highly recommend this for people looking for an uphill trail and beautiful scenery.

So much beauty. Hwy 89, between Emerald bay and Cascade lake tightened my butt cheeks, but the views were exhilarating. Very few businesses were open, since it was early May, but many people were out and about, on bikes, and boats, or walking or driving.

Highway 49 between Grass Valley and Lake Tahoe and now one of my favorite drives. Absolutely gorgeous great way to spend a day.
