Texas Great Country Café & Pie Pantry

Great southern style Cafe, don't miss out on the fried green beans and fried okra! Amazing service with great smiles, friendly attitude and you too can have one of their awesome T shirts! And then... The pie... Oh my, the pie! 😊 So many selections it was hard to pick one! We had the lemon meringue and coconut cream. They were piled high with amazing meringue and so perfect in your mouth 👄! I never give 5 stars because I think there is always something you n work on... But i couldn't think of anything better then coming back here! And yes, clean bathrooms. You just have to watch for the unassuming sign in the tiny strip center that says... CAFE ... I promise you won't be disappointed! 😍😍🤗

Ok seriously, WOW!!! Service here is the best I've seen in a long time, and it wasn't just our amazing (and devilish, said with love) server..it was the whole staff!!! They seem truly happy to be there, happy to serve you, super attentive, and very very well trained!!! I remember when service like that was the norm, but unfortunately it is not anymore and it was so refreshing to find a place with old school values! Ashlee reminded me of a younger me with her clever witty way and her super suggestive ability..hence the devilish comment. I did not want fried food before arriving and even stated that in the car..Ashlee had me eating, and loving fried pickles, green beans, and mushrooms!! Dang her, lol! She knows the power of suggestion and does it well with great recommendations. I would ask for her again in a heartbeat!! Thanks Ashlee 😊 (and thanks to the whole staff for providing a much needed experience)

Went in at 11 am on a Sunday morning for breakfast. Waited 45 minutes for our food. After watching the group of 4 that came in after us complete their meal I asked the manager why it was taking so long. I was told that breakfast during lunch hours takes longer. Well the group of 4 people ordered breakfast also. There were only 2 of us. Plus, I think a hamburger Patty takes long to cook than some eggs. Extremely bad service. I have been going in here for years and they have gotten to a point where they don't give good service anymore. But if you like excuses, they'll be happy to servt those up hot and fresh.

Great comfort food! Grilled shrimp salad was more than you could eat. Chicken fried steak was 3 stars. Real steak a bit chewy but very good flavor. The sides are large portions so you do get your money's worth. Recommended.

A jewel that you should not miss. Drive the 15 miles west of I-35 to Whitney. They have the best fare around and a Dutch Apple Pie to die for.
