The Cooperage

Went to enjoy a dinner to celebrate my birthday. It's been a while since I've enjoyed a lobster. Was going to go to Red Lobster, but wanted to try something new and support a local business at the same time. While staff was polite, the atmosphere was like stepping back in time, and the pricing was a bit overpriced for what we were getting. I overall enjoyed my experience. But it won't be my first choice for celebrating my birthday. Do I recommend? I guess so. Just wouldn't be my first choice.

I come for the fabulous music - Albuquerque Jazz Orchestra first Tuesday every month, no cover. But this menu, and the highly overrated salad bar, has not changed since I first ate here in 1980. To be polite, I'll get a glass of wine (list is limited but not bad) and sometimes an appetizer (wildly inconsistent quality). The one time I ordered the prime rib, it was mostly gristle. Service is friendly, but they seem to be chronically understaffed. Too bad. Location is great, but most of us have dinner before showing up.

I'd only return for lunch. The buffet was great and good was pretty good. Very pricey but worth it for the right occasion. If we'd had an experienced server, I probably would give 5 stars but ours was obviously new and young so he was not probably ready for a position at such a high end restaurant.

Great food and service. One draw back...use some acoustical absorbing material on ceilings and between windows Between windows. Without it you can't hear guest speakers or your closest friends. Example airforce academy head of administration on founders day. Could not hear to answer questions from 50 plus guests. We look forward to hearing a positive change.

Great place to have a nice quiet dinner. Food is always good, service is slow some times but never bad. I've never had a bad meal here, and to top it off all meals come with a free salad bar.
