I wanted to wait a bit before making this review to assure it was accurate . Three months ago, I adopted an amazing Jack Russell mix girl and experience was excellent! The staff were welcoming and friendly and as a veteran dog owner, I was glad they were thorough to assure my vet was set up and housing was well suited our new family member. We adopted Coconut, a Jack Russell mix that was a hurricane Maria rescue. She came with shots, meds, spayed and a microchip, so the cost was well worth it! I highly recommend this shelter, understanding that they are truly invested in the best place for the pets.

All of the staff at Tri-County are so passionate and hardworking when it comes to making sure that every single cat and dog are continuously loved and cared for. The process to adopt is extra thorough, to ensure that every dog finds their perfect forever homes. Every day employees display a strong effort towards their long term mission of saving and enriching as many lives as possible, as well as their compassion for all pets and their families.

This place is ridiculous with some of their rules for adopting a pet in need. My family came in looking to adopt a dog and we were denied because twice a week we are at work for 8 hours. Forget the fact that we have always had a dog, live in a single family home, with a nice size back yard, and would welcome the dog into our home with love. The counselor spoke to the manager who quickly upheld the denial and did not even come out to talk to my wife. She was told 8 hours is too long to be away for a dog under 2 and to pick another dog. I am sorry but selecting a dog is not just “picking another dog.” The dog we wanted was very sweet and appeared to warm up to my daughter rather fast. Instead of adopting the dog out to a family who would care and love the dog, they would rather keep the her locked behind a run since Januar 2018. How does that make any sense, the dog in the facility is locked up for a majority of the day and maybe walked half a dozen times (at best) each day.
Bottom line is if you wish to adopt a dog under 2, plan to quit your job first so you have no money to care for him/her.

We recently adopted a puppy at Tri-County and could not be happier! We love our puppy, Bailey! Everybody was so helpful and kind. I especially would like to thank Kelly. She helped us through the process and made our experience very pleasant. It is a very nice location and everybody there truly cares. I Highly recommend!

All about money. Just heard they got rid of their cat room. Sent the rest of the cats to Peggy Adams. How pathetic on their part. They obviously have never cared about cats to do such a thing to those animals. So many organizations into dogs NOT cats because there is no money in cat rescue . Tons of money in dog rescue. Pretty dispicable..
