As a current resident at University Village, I was interested in examining this apartment complex’s measures of accessibility. Accessible handicap parking is directly in front of the Resident Life Center [photo 1]. This building is nicely done, it holds two levels with places to relax, study, and exercise. With this being a two-level complex, there is elevator access to the left [photo 2]. Both floors have various forms of seating: couches, lounge chairs, long tables with chairs, and a computer lab. Wheelchair accessible bathrooms are located on both floors, although, both required individuals to open heavy doors to enter, which could be difficult for some. The arrangement of seating allows spaces for wheelchair accessibility [photo 3] and the ends of the long table allow as well. There is also a nice coffee bar available for all residents. The high tabletop location makes it inaccessible for wheelchair-abled individuals [photo 4]. Although their Resident Life Center may have some accommodations, I have neglected to find any accommodations in terms of the apartments. The building I am in requires stairs to enter the building, and as soon as you enter, there is a staircase bringing you either up or down, no level apartments [photo 5]. I have yet to see any ramps either. The website reads to be handicap accessible but I was disappointed to see the online Accessibility Policy was blank.
This is a great place to live for any OSU student. The buses are great for transporting back and forth for classes or work! Jonathan was so helpful with my move in process and has been helpful with any questions I have!
I’m currently living at UV right now and I’m giving them a 1-star because my time spent here the last three months has been very disappointing. First of all, my room stinks for whatever reason and gives off a nauseating smell. Second I emailed maintenance about the issue, they came to fix the heat and it never turned on. We still have no heat. They didn’t help with the smell either they just left. It doesn’t seem like faculty or maintenance care about their residents at all. If I hadn’t signed off on a year lease I would be getting out of here. Don’t waste your time here.
I recently just sub leased from this place and when I walked in the apartment it’s clear nobody cleaned or inspected the apartment. Multiple things were dirty/damaged and I took pictures of everything before hand and once I moved out. They not only took the security deposit and said it was “randomly” waived and I forced to pay for the damages to the apartment caused by another tenant which is absurd. There were multiple issues with this place along with this. It stunk and the public gym was riddled with bugs. The water was dirty almost the entire time I said there. I’d wouldn’t recommend this place. The only somewhat good thing about this place is the bus that runs from there to campus which is cool when it actually runs.
One star for the hard-working bus driver, another to keep this answer alive. The apartment is terrible. The sewer always has a bad smell that comes out as you stay in a septic tank. Hoping you will never smell it. And cockroach attack! It's disgusting when you find a cockroach in your bowl. Keep away from here if you have a better choice.
If there was an option to give negative -1 I would definitely do that. I am fed up of this place. Their maintenance is pathetic. My bedroom door has been jammed since 24th Dec 2022 and I have raised an emergency request. The emergency guy who came was of no use and he said he can’t solve it and I have to raise the complaint in the portal which I did. I have even visited the maintenance office numerous times since Tuesday morning to get it done. I don’t have the access to my belongings since 4 days. This is one of the issue which is not solved and requires urgent attention. Not to mention many issues which are bothering us. We don’t have controller in our apartment to adjust heat and the solution the maintenance guy gives us to open windows when it gets hot and close them later. It’s been nearly 2 months since they switch on heat and still we are asked to open and close windows for controlling the temperature. I would never recommend this place to anyone. I have given the honest review to people who asked me if uv is worth living. One word.. NO. PATHETIC.
Don't believe the fake reviews you read about this place. My daughter took over a lease. Luckily we only had to endure a year here. Apartment you get is not what they show you- very old and out dated. Bathroom- pink - old- ceiling falling in- tub wouldn't drain, window would not lock. Kitchen ceiling exhaust DISGUSTING and didnt work, oven was a disaster, toilet would not stop running, after many maintenance calls they stated well needs a new toilet can you just put a water bottle in the tank?! Umm No!! Well we will have to replace it -- UMM YES!!. Carpet was gross and then blamed us- after we had pictures upon move in.. The laundry room is so disgusting and unsafe- every rain literally standing water on the floor - only 2 dryers and washers barely worked out of 4. hallways always dirty and smelly. Dog owners NEVER pick up their dog's waste and huge dogs living there. THE BUS SYSTEM IS A TOTAL JOKE.. app never worked. bus never on time or didnt show up.. NEVER LIVE HERE IF YOU CAN HELP IT. Hopefully the new area options shut this one down
If I could rate this worse I would, subleased and the lease I signed said it would include the tenants security deposit, it did not. Had to pay for the previous tenants damages such as damaged carpet and damaged blinds. It was a smoke free apartment and the tenant was very obviously a smoker, I spent so much time and money trying to get rid of the smoke smell and never could.
I lived at University Village for 9 months and all I can say is that the day I left I couldn't have been happier! I hated staying there, I was treated poorly by the staff especially the leasing office. I would never recommend this place to anyone, they are incredibly unprofessional, rude and disrespectful. Honestly seems like a bunch of kids trying to play grown up and the grown ups working there are too busy worried about the drama going on around to care about anything else.
Absolutely zero communication what so ever between the main building, maintenance, busing, etc. Busses are always loaded and will skip stops with no warning. There is never an up to date schedule to know what times or days busses will be running. Extremely difficult to plan anything or get in touch with anyone from the maintenance department.
