Solid causual hikes nestled in the bluffs. Trails are under 5 miles with lots of connections and some difficulty variation. Dogs welcome on leash. Different paths marked for winter as well, with skiing and biking trails. Only downside is that some of the trails can get narrow. If you're visiting around early Spring, they may be closed to prevent trail erosion.

Upper Hixon forest offers a wonderful variety of trails for outdoor activities. Mountain bikers, Trail runners, hikers, and cross-country skiers will find winding Prairie Trails, single track, and awesome Fat Tire Bike opportunities in the winter. Upper Hixon also features a BMX pump track 4 kids and adults to play on.

Hixon Forest provides amazing recreation opportunities! Hiking, biking, and jogging are three of our favorites. Compared to other cities, La Crosse has a local sanctuary in Hixon Forest! Please take full advantage of it, while also practicing good environmental ethics. Take care of these lands.
