Love the nearby town. Beautiful park with great well marked trails and swimming. Access to larger road bike path and bike camping sites. No water at the sites, and only a few with electricity. Showers are warm and bathrooms are clean, but a bit worn. Sites are off level and tight with mud and sand making it more difficult to get in. If you have a smaller rig and bigger truck, you will be fine.

I lived in the state of Oregon for years, and yes, the Wisconsin State Park campgrounds pale in comparison. But Blue Mounds is my favorite State Park in Southern Wisconsin. While the sites are small, some of the non-reservable ones can accommodate two 4-person tents if you get creative. The privacy (now with the green foliage filling in) is very fine. The trails - especially the Holy Schist trail - is an excellent hike. The little town of Blue Mounds is minutes away (the gas station/market for needed supplies; Hooterville Inn for a fish fry). Climbing the observation towers late at night is great. The picnic area at the top of the park is huge and gorgeous. I'll be back!

Didn't have a ton of time to spend there but really enjoyed the view from the towers. Definitely can see for miles. Would love to go back during fall colors.
