The full lightening was spectacular and so was the salute to Veterans. There were a lot of people there but I saw some Veterans who were in wheelchairs who could not get close enough because it was too crowded. The music was great and a good time was had by all.

Visited during the water fire festival. Loved the wood smoke smell. The performances along the river were really nice. Specially the one with drums

Good place for a run in the morning. I went in the winter when the temperatures were in single digits and thus the place was deserted.none the less there were professional gymnasts excercising. There were ducks and looked like summers would be a hoot for the children and a lot many events could happen here. There was space for live performances and audience. Lovely Providence.

Venice in Providence, RI? Well, kind of..
The Waterplace Park is located along the Woonasquatucket River in downtown Providence near its confluence with the Moshassuck River. A circular shaped park with an amphitheater like seatings that functions as steps, and it's surrounded by newly minted high-rise apartment, office buildings, and restaurants.
The Woonasquatucket River is Hardly a canal like the ones in Venice, Italy, but the gondolas are floating on it with gondoliers with their signature nautical striped top and a straw hat. BTW, I didn't hear them belting out arias, but I guess it's as authentic as it gets. We were there early afternoon, so not much was happening. It's a nice place to jog and maybe bike along the banks of the river, but not much to do.
It looks like Providence is attempting to revitalize the downtown area, and I think they are doing a decent job. I'm rooting for you Providence!

Meh. I guess the venue is pretty nice, but if nothing is going on it's not particularly interesting.
