Whole foods has some of the best produce I've seen at a grocery store. They also have an excellent array of organic foods, fancy cheeses, and the best olive bar. They have excellent seafood and meat counters. They also have a number of food bars, which make a pretty good lunch or a quick dinner on the way home when you're too tired to cook from all the shopping you just did. It tends to be expensive though, as eating healthy usually is for some reason. It is also busy here all the time. Come home late, decide to stop off at whole foods at union square, grab a few things. It's late, it will be a quick trip. Nope! Packed. Every night it seems like.

A premium supermarket with significantly subpar service quality. Customer Service is poorly executed. Customers who truly need customer service are not prioritized among regular check-up customers by the Customer Service counter. I had to wait behind regular customers to complain the over-charged items. The customer service representative simple scanned the receipt to void the item been overcharged and told me can leave. No apologies for the overcharge and my time wasted waiting there. I questioned why the cashier failed to input the code clearly labeled on the produce and that kind of reoccurring negligent overcharging error wasted me so much time, then the customer service finally looked at the receipt to locate the cashier who made the mistake and said they will inform the cashier. I was pretty surprised that Whole Foods did not seem have a standard customer service recovery procedure to proactively proceed with proper corrective actions for future service quality improvement. Food sampling stands jammed up the traffic around the store from time to time. Employees restocking the merchandise constantly bumped into customers without expressing any apologies. Cashiers are very robotic and seldom engage or even have any eye contact with customers throughout the check-out. Cashiers are usually busy chatting with each other instead of engaging with customers. Some cashiers cannot even do the basic bagging well. For example, placing a hot roasted chicken on top of refrigerated raw meat, crashing bananas with a bottle of olive oil, pulling wet vegetables out of the plastic bag without putting them back to the bag after scanning the price... etc. I encountered those issues more frequent than I expected from a store like Whole Foods, so I've hardly had a pleasant shopping experience here. New update on 2/6/2018: I was lured by a sign on the sidewalk stating "10 Good Soaps for $10", but was told that "future sale" won't start until 2/21/2018 when I was ready to make the purchase. I asked why they put out a confusing sign for a sale won't start until more than two weeks later, but was told that they did put clear dates on the sign despite the small font size. Guess that suggests shoppers need to pay extra attention to the fine prints while shopping at Whole Foods from now onwards. Also, the purpose of a promotion sign is to draw traffic to shop. Unless there's a presell reservation available, what's the point to put out a misleading sign for future promotion? Wish that Whole Foods could care about its customers slightly more wholeheartedly. Additionally, saw sell-by 4/7/2018 perishable food remains on display on 5/1/2018. This is not the quality I expected from Whole Foods.

Very competitive prices for frozen organic vegetables and organic chicken in meat department. I go there to get ingredients for organic green juice and they usually also have a wide variety of organic salad ingredients including some that have become exotics like organic iceberg lettuce. Good sales in the meat department, store is always immaculately clean and staff are knowledgeable and courteous. They even stock several varieties of organic English muffins and house baked organic breads. The baking ingredients aisle is pretty comprehensive, too.
I just wish they had an eat-in cafe.

Very nice location with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Lines move quickly because they have many lanes. Store is big with plenty of selections
