A homey place to visit and get away from your home. I usually don't make it pass the kids sections but I am always amazed by the tons and tons of books. The staff is always pleasant. I actually think the library must be the happiest place to work I don't recall in my ×× years living ever meeting a disgruntled librarian or staff member. However don't get the title confuse, it is free to borrow books but they will charge you if you fail to pick up a book on hold and damaged books are $10. The staff will remind you face mask must be worn. Yes, I come monthly to the library .
I have been visiting the Catonsville library for over 20 years now and in that time I’ve never had a bad experience with anyone or anything. It has been a place for me to just be able to have some peace while doing my research. Everyone one there is so nice and helpful and welcoming. It’s like everyone leaves their attitude at the door before coming in. Other libraries don’t have the same thing. Someone will jump real quick to say something out loud or I hear their phones ringing. Trash is left everywhere. The Catonsville library is quiet and clean. Very friendly staff. They have just about everything there you need.
Clean, nice location with many seats for studying. The only downside is that a lot of the seats don't have charging ports like the other branches do. The guest wifi also started out good but it disconnected for my personal computer and wouldn't go back online
Great curbside pick-up! Organized & fast. Option of curbside walk-up from the front of the library when parked in the rear which expedites the distribution of materials when parking may be limited at the front of the building. So glad the library can at least be functional during this time. Applause to the staff & their management!
Came in to this branch to charge my cell phone with my husband and my son while we waited for our daughter to get out of her class. Librarian comes over to my husband that is sitting in the chair and says that my son can lay his head down in the opposite chair. I don’t know if they thought that we were homeless cause he was tired and lounging while we waited and were BLACK but I couldn’t happen but notice that they did not say anything to the WHITE homeless man in the opposite Corner bagging up leaves in bags with all his homeless collectibles I will never visit this branch for anything this was definitely discriminatory in nature
You can pick up pre-ordered materials curbside in the back in marked spots between 10-8 Monday through Thursday, 10-5 Friday, and Saturday 10-3. Limit is 100 items out at a time. This place is great!
Most of the staff is approachable and competent at google searches and working with the library database. Computers are fine for browsing, and basic Word documents. Downloading is basically restricted to a thumb drive so make sure that you bring one with you. Collection is popular only, don't expect any professional reference or, indeed, any updated reference materials whatsoever. Reference and professional searches are only available online which can be accessed from your own home if you have a library card. This used to be a community branch, but, no longer, just part of the larger system now, nothing special.
I have brought the kids to this library on a multiple number of occasions to help them do their homework. The staff here have always been professional and capable of getting the information that we need it to keep up with the work assignments. We have also had no problem trying to use the computers in this particular location after signing up for use.
Why is a library closed on Sunday and not open to in the evenings??? It makes no sense when these are the times people are not working and have their kids. So basically you can only bring your kids on a Saturday around sports practice, birthdays parties & errands.
Great customer service, clean, and friendly atmosphere. The kids section is really nice, which allows them to be free and read, work on the computer, and listen to stories. Great place to go and read, with a good selection of books!
