This is the first time I made use of the accommodation at "Die Blou Nartjie". The rooms are clean and spacious with a very comfortable king size bed. 25years ago I visited the restaurant on its opening night and the impression made then brought me back here. The atmosphere, the venue, the history and the absolutely delicious food here is worth a visit every time you pass through Calvinia. My wife and I both ordered their lamb shank. This was really delicious, I cannot even find the right words to describe this dish. It was served with your choice of rice, mashed potatoes or chips with vegetables you could take a green salad instead of the starches. The service was excellent and it felt like we hardly waited for our food. If you bring your own wine there is a corkage fee payable. They have an excellent choice of wines and the prices are very affordable.
We stayed one night and thoroughly enjoyed the cozy, friendly environment. Dinner was great, especially the lamb shank. The rooms are spacious and clean. Will be visiting this little gem again soon. Safety: Vehicle could be parked safely next to our room behind closef gates.
A real gem in a small town. Atmospheric and stylish. The staff are friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. The food is excellent. A number of novel dishes and a good spread of food. I would make an excuse to visit Calvinia just to eat at the Blou Naartjie.
We had the best overnight stay and the food and service was realy good. Definitly recommend Die Blou Naartjie.Rooms: 5/5

Typical Karoo friendliness. This is the best guesthouse in Calvinia. The room we had was spacious with two Queen size beds. Everything was neat, clean, fresh and new. We will most certainly stay here again.Rooms: 5/5
Incredible food. The staff are lovely and went the extra mile to make our experience great!
Very comfortable nights rest, fantastic service and they have a restaurant - fully licensed - so you're sorted if you want to kick your feet back and relax after a long days drive or work. Very well situated in Calvinia if you fancy a late afternoon walk around the historic town. A swimming pool and braai facilities round off this very attractive guesthouse.
Their food is very delicious and the service is good and the personnel is very friendlyService: 5/5
In the restaurant, they serve the best lamb chops I have ever eaten and not only in South Africa!
