Garonga is everything you would wish for in a Safari experience! The wildlife is amazing, the reserve is well kept and we got to see all of the Big 5 in less than 24 h of our arrival. The guides are so skilled in finding the animals, but also very friendly and entertaining. The tents are luxurious and clean, while still having that “wild” feel to them. Laying in the hammock on the deck after an outdoor shower is just the best. The staff also really sets this reserve apart. Everyone was lovely and made us feel so welcome. Thank you Garonga team!
Absolutely incredible and magical stay at Garonga, truly one of the most beautiful places we've ever been. Sat perfectly on a dry river bed, surrounded by the most amazing wildlife, and all from the six most luxurious tents. Wonderful food and the most perfect and knowledgeable team of people make everything happen 100%! Completely in love with this place! Bernie, you should be so proud!
We had the best time at Garonga Safari Camp. Amazing service from all staff members, very luxurious accommodation and delicious food and drinks. We also got to experience the Starbath and Sleep-out under the stars, both of which were special experiences. However, the highlight definitely was the incredible animal sightings, thanks to our amazing team of Kaiser safari guide and Glandstone tracker. Their extensive knowledge of the land and animals was exceptional, and it was an absolute pleasure to go on safari drives under their guidance. Highly recommend!! Rooms: Very luxurious tent room with all necessary amenities. Large comfortable king bed. Bathroom with all necessary toiletries. A nice outdoor shower though not the most private. Amazing views of animals from tent and main lounge area. Food & drinks: High quality meals by a very skilled professional head chef. Great variety of foods. Accommodating to dietary requirements. Wonderful selection of drinks from 24/7 open bar and good quality house wines.
Remains my favourite safari experience in South Africa. The camp Garonga Safari Camp is superb! Excellent service, food, beautiful tents, and great game drives.Rooms: 5/5
We had an amazing time at Garonga. Our safari guides were knowledgeable and engaging, and the animal viewing exceeded our expectations. Our room was very comfortable with both indoor and outdoor showers and the food was delicious with the team attentive to dietary restrictions vegan.Rooms: 5/5
WOW, what an experience. The game drive was amazing, the lodge, meals. Everything was an experience. Thank you BernieRooms: 5/5
If you want to explore the greater Kruger but you want to relax as well, then Garonga will be the place for you. We unfortunately only stayed 3 nights but we had the most amazing time by having the opportunity to sleep under the stars in the sleepout deck, to have a romantic bath outside, to see 4 out of the big 5 the leopards were too lazy to come out, to have amazing meals including a proper braai and this thanks to the very friendly and professional staff and as well the very knowledgeable rangers. Highly recommended and worth the money, we’ll definitely come back!
What makes this lodge great is the attention to detail they put into everything. Not only do they have special and out of this world experiences, but the hospitality makes you feel right at home. The way they set your table specifically for you, the way they prepare your tent before you come back after each game drive, the way they care about what your needs are from food to beverage to your overall experience is exquisite. The game drives are immensely fun and informative. We loved the effort they put in for good sightings. I highly recommend this lodge to anyone who is looking for a get away that will be memorable.
I cannot recommend Garonga Safari Camp enough! My wife and I spent three nights there on our honeymoon and from day 1 already wanted to extend our stay. The entire place looked better in person than it did in the photos - which never really happens - and the staff were amazing right from the start. Everything was completely catered and the personal touches were everywhere. Everyone on the Garonga Team was incredibly kind, helpful, and fun, and made sure you were well taken care of at all times. It felt luxurious and homey in a way I have not experienced before. The food was delicious and there was always plenty to drink. The tents and lodge itself were beautiful and comfortable and the perfect place to relax between drives. There are two watering holes visible from all of the tents and lodge, and we saw rhinos, elephants, giraffes, and impala while just hanging out. Steph, our main point of contact, made sure we took full advantage of everything they offered, and we were able to do the Star Bath and Sleepout deck within our 3 night stay - both of which were highlights and would be a priority if when? we return. The game drives, 2x a day, were incredible. Our guide/tracker team, Danelle and Bongi, were so knowledgeable and friendly, it made the 3 hour drives fly by. We were beyond impressed by how much Danelle knew about.. everything. She was able to answer all of our questions in depth, even the weird ones. Bongi was an amazing tracker and the two of them made sure to prioritize finding what interested us that day. Each drive had a midway break for snacks and either coffee or a sundowner, so we really got to know them and the others in our car. Again, cannot recommend this place enough, we are still missing the entire Garonga Team.
Truly amazing experience. Everything about our visit to Garonga exceed our expectations. The staff was so welcoming and friendly. They go above and beyond to make your visit safe, comfortable and enjoyable. They are all very professional and knowledgeable. The food was delicious. Amazing wine list there's a wine cellar! and drink options. The chef was remarkable - I'm gluten and dairy free and she was able to make fresh bread, biscuits, desserts and all meals special for me. She also baked a gluten and dairy free chocolate cake for my birthday! All around the food was such highly quality - whether it was breakfast, lunch or dinner, you felt like you were eating at a fine dining restaurant. The accommodations are truly glamping. Nicest 'tent' I've ever slept in. Nicely designed and decorated. Indoor and outdoor shower options. Very spacious. Beds were very comfortable. The amenities are lovely - complimentary bush bath, sleepout deck and laundry. They also have massage therapist that you can book on arrival. There are only 6 tents, so max 12 guests. The whole experience feels very luxurious. They also have a pool to lounge in. Since you go on morning and evening game drives to avoid the heat, you have from about 10 am - 3 pm to lounge around. The pool will be very refreshing! The setting is simply stunning. The views are breathtaking, whether you are looking out from your deck at your tent, the main dining The game drives were epic! The guides and trackers are very knowledgeable and really care about giving you an exciting and a safe experience. You're in an open air Jeep - so you'll need a hat, sunglasses and appropriate attire layers as it can be quite cool in the early morning and late evening. It's also driving through the bush - so very bumpy roads. We got to see the big five and many other animals. We also learned quite a bit about birds and the flora and fauna. We visited early April, after the rain season and start of autumn - so we were very fortunate that there were no mosquitos! For my first Safari experience, I'm incredibly grateful to have stayed at Garonga and would highly recommend visiting them for your Safari experience!
