My daughter and I just spent three nights there. We went to bed listening to lions roaring. We watched giraffes walking while sipping our afternoon tea. Definitely an experience of a life time for us. The wonderful staff made our experience even more amazing. Jimmy and Themba are so experienced that we were able to see lots of animals at every game drive. They also told us interesting stories about the history of the lion pride, how to recognize rhynos by ears...The chef pampered us with different gourmet food everyday. The house keeping crew made sure that our tent was clean, warm and comfy all the time. The owners treated us like family. Tamara patiently answered all my many many emails before the trip, and made arrangements to accommodate all our needs. She even connected us with her friends so that we can go for a great lunch after we departed the lodge. The lodge facility is also top notch. There was solar power so we were not affected by load shedding. The tent has AC, although we did not need it. My daughter liked the indoor bath tub and I enjoyed the outdoor shower. I was also impressed by how much they pay attention to details. For example, they prepared bug repellent for us in the tent. Overall, I give this lodge my highest recommendation.
Costs 500 USD if you aren't a South African citizen, the staff are very kind and the food is great. There is a small, not-heated pool and good views from the balcony. Twice a day you get taken on a ride to the safari to see animals. The rooms have a heater and an outdoor and indoor shower Food & drinks: Good food
We had the best time at Sausage Tree! We cannot praise the staff enough for making the experience so enjoyable, from the friendly and welcoming service to the delicious food that they served for each meal. A special mention goes to Jimmy and Themba, the guides, they were both brilliant and we especially enjoyed when they joined for dinner and shared their knowledge and experience. All of the staff just made it a brilliant 3 days.
We didn't sleep we loved the good job that they're offering there and I hope one of the good days I can work there. The service is great Service: 5/5
Just WOW!!! The highest quality safari guides you will ever find!!! We had an absolutely incredible experience with Sausage Tree for 6 nights. My wife and I have been on several safaris and have 8 years each working as wildlife guides in Canada. We’ve seen average, good and exceptional guides. Jimmy, Themba and Polite were beyond exceptional. What stood out to us was their combined passion for the animals and tracking ability that was awe-inspiring to watch. They know the bush like no other. It’s hard to explain how in tune with the area they are - but once you go out with them you will see. They do not simply drive around and hope to see animals, they find animals for not only their guests but for the other operators in the area. We were also extremely impressed with their knowledge of all the animals. We asked them so many questions and even tried to stump them a few times but they knew the answer to everything! Across the board the professionalism, expertise and positive attitude is simply top tier when it comes to wildlife tourism. It was emotional for us to leave because of the connections we made with the Sausage Tree staff. They are all such wonderful people! Thank you all for such an incredible experience. We are speechless.
We spent our Honeymoon here and the experience was absolutely perfect, I don't think we could have asked for more. We got to see so many animals thanks to the unbelievably talented guides and trackers, the food was exceptional and the staff around the camp made our whole stay so comfortable and memorable. A wonderful Safari experience, I would recommend this to anyone wanting the complete Safari package.
I don't even know where to begin to describe how wonderful our stay with Sausage Tree was. Our trip was originally planned back in May of 2020, however, due to Covid, our trip was of course canceled. Sausage Tree let us continue to reschedule until we felt the time was right to travel to South Africa. Luckily, we finally made it down there and I am beyond happy that we did. Everything at Sausage Tree was top notch. From the food, to the service, to the accommodations, and especially the game drives. We were blessed to get to see the big five on our first game drive out, and continued to have great luck the next three nights we were there. Thank you to Themba and Polite for making every game drive amazing and memorable! I wanted to see a baby elephant more than anything and they did everything in their power to ensure that we saw one! The food by Pitso and his staff was absolutely top notch, and we definitely did not go hungry. All breads and muffins were made fresh every day and absolutely melted in your mouth. Late mornings and early afternoons were so relaxing by the pool, watching the watering hole and waiting for the elephants and impala to stop by. We enjoyed gin and tonics both by the pool and on our evening game drives. Alcohol does cost extra but was so reasonably priced. We had a bottle of wine every evening with dinner around the Boma. Overall I can't recommend Sausage Tree enough. Should we ever have the opportunity to visit South Africa again, we will definitely be spending our time with them!
Don’t hesitate, you won’t regret this lodge! The location is stunning, staff excellent and professional. The owners joined us for breakfast multiple times and they felt very involved. We managed to see all major wildlife, apart from rhino and cheetah. The tents were fantastic and made you feel like so connected and close to nature. Food was super too. This camp is what experiencing nature and wildlife is all about.
The Sausage Tree Safari Camp exceeded our expectations. The quality of the food was excellent. If you’re lucky to be there when Pitso makes chicken pie for lunch don’t skip this! Every effort was made by the staff to make our experience the best ever. Themba and Jimmy really delivered during the game drives. We saw almost all the big five - just missing a leopard. These guys shared their knowledge of the bush and we all learned a lot and had great time. Special shout-out to Polite who was serving at the time. He was the best and gave us extra special attention to making sure we were happy. Polite is also a guide he rotates between serving and guiding I think and I’m sure he’s great at that too. The owners, Sonja and James, were very attentive to our every need. I would highly recommend this camp to anyone looking for a convenient get away. It’s only a 20 minute drive from Hoedspruit airport which is a big plus.
The best safari camp ever! Everything was absolutely perfect during our stay here - we got to know very interesting people both among the guests and the personnel! The guides were really skilled and interesting and could show us a lot! : And most importantly, this camp has the best atmosphere I ever experienced at the camp! We will definitely come again! Thank you very much for a great time, guys! :
