We loved this very special hotel. This was our stopover on our way home from Capetown. We would have loved to stay another night. We really can't fault anything. Staff was great, food was lovely and we had a good night's sleep on a very comfortable bed with high quality bedding. Just loved the dekor and relaxed atmospher of this hotel. Yes.
We did a quick stop, walk-thru, the hotel looks amazing and wish we could stay for a night. What did highly irritate me was the price of 8 tots of sherry which we had to fork out R280! This is excessive in any language. Sorry, maybe the international tourists is willing to pay such prices but for South Africans this is tough. Selling a R50 cheap sherry for R1050 is a rip off. Don’t let small things like this make future patrons wary of staying over.
Delightful and charming little hotel on the N1 from Bloemfontein to Cape Town. The warm greeting from Miranda, to the artfully presented G&T poured by Jacques, the delicious dinner, quirky decor, spacious and spotlessly clean bedrooms; this is a MUST stay over. Thank you for a wonderful overnight. Highly recommend Hanover Luxury Hotel.
A warm welcome indeed. It was a fierce storm , we were forced to stop over and what a wonderful surprise ! From the beautifully decorated rooms to perfectly cooked Karoo Lamb chops!!Rooms: 5/5
We overnyted on our way back to Pretoria. Hands-down service from Luther Ranaldo and Jacques, amazing staff, the new interior decorator done and outstanding job, truly beautiful tasteful finishes. Air-conditioning fabulous. The food was amazing. However, a great deal of attention needs to be given to the bathroom, and ablution room 7 and 8. The plug points do not work, the shower heads are not efficient at all, and flush does not function, the shower heating did not function at all, and all a traveller wants is a good shower. The kettles need a good descaling. Once the bathroom plumbing and vanity details gets the same attention as the room, it would be an outstanding stopover on par with international luxury facilities.
Stunning place!!! Great value for money, friendly & very efficient staff, great food, what more do you need…?Rooms: 5/5
We stopped here on our way back to Cape Town from a business trip. A little weary, we walked in and were greeted with an overwhelming sense of “please come in” Planting our carcasses ourselves in the bar, we were served ice cold drinks and presented with a great menu. I must say, the snack basket was amazing, a great selection! The pizza, 100% home made was better than most I have had from well known restaurants! Had a peak in at one of the rooms, and while simple, they absorb you with the warmth of “home” I’d say an absolute must stop for any traveler.
So this is half-way between Joburg and Cape Town. A point on a map with 2 fuel stations that I have always driven past. I stopped here to overnight because they were willing to accommodate a late check in. The lady that manages the place is an exceptionally nice, pleasant and accommodating host. She took time to show me around, make sure I had what I needed, and told me a bit about the town. The rooms are comfortable. I took a standard room.... just me for the night. It was spotlessly clean. Everything I needed was available and the effort on limited budget was impressive. VERY basic and an old mattress, but adequate. Honestly I would've happily paid double what they charged. I spent some time in the bar.... which is a delightful and quirky place..... clearly full of many stories. I will stop here again. This really is a wonderful place, doing the absolute best they can in the market they target. And if Wynanda doesn't have shares, she deserves a raise/bonus.
Hanover Lodge Hotel is situated in a small town. It is very close to the main highway and convenient for travellers. We travelled with 2 dogs and we stayed in a fenced off part of the hotel. Everything was secure on our stay and we used the heater supplied in the room to keep us warm during the evenings. The hotel has a restaurant as well if you need breakfast or dinner. Very friendly staff. Woud love to stay here again.
Fantastic small-town hotel to stop over after a long drive. Like someone said, it’s not the Ritz, but I wanted some local and friendly service and that is plentiful here. Yes, the rooms aren’t recently remodeled but it’s clean and comfortable. The best thing about the hotel is spending time in the bar. It’s got such a rich history and great vibe. Wynanda is an amazing host at the bar. They are always happy to arrange wood for a braai in the bar and help out with coins for the pool table and notes for the jukebox. I’ve stayed 5 or 6 times and this is my favourite place between Joburg and Cape Town.
