Beautiful Hotel and easily accessible. Enough and safe parking. Stunning features at entry, beautiful chandelier at reception with a cozy hangout area surrounding a warm fireplace which is great feature for winter season nights. Nice bar equipped with a variety of drinks. Food was delicious. Beautiful rooms with a workstation if you want to burn the midnight oil, working air-conditioned, but the bathroom was a big letdown. It wasn't nice to shower and still be in the pond of water, not draining effectively.
The hotel definitely met my expectations. Great location, cleanliness, facilities including rooftop pool and a seperate rooftop bar. Friendly staff .Good breakfast however slow service. Would stay here again. Rooms: Good size. Comfortable beds and pillows . TV viewing options could be better. Rooms cleaned daily and on time . Black out curtains . Safety: Rooms double locked with door locks and safety locks. Walkability: Comfortable walk to The Mark and Nelson Mandela Square.
Central location with easy access from street. Rooms were good. Service requires some attention 1 My chronic medication were chucked in the trash during room service - there were 2 tablets left, so i assume they thought it was empty...nevertheless this caused some health constraints during my stay. Next time ask maybe? 2 Food at restaurant were good, took a bit longer than normal, but was worth the wait! Well done to the chef. The waiter however requires more training - also need to familiarise themselves with the menu a bit better. There were no drinks menu so you had to gues what you want akd they'll have to tell you if they have it or not. Easy suggestion would be to print a drinks menu. 3 Maybe install a parking validation machine to avoid having to walk to reception every time. Rooms: Good, clean and quality room with amenities. Safety: Safe and secure, central location.
Good location. Near shopping malls n restaurants. With hourly trips to the Nelson Mandela square. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Rooms was neat n tidy. Food menu limited. On route for taxis, bus , uber n hotels chauffeur transport available. Rooms: Neat n tidy serviced daily. Has bar fridge, water tea n coffee. Beds comfortable Nearby activities: Nelson Mandela square Food & drinks: Bar service available with a variety. However food menu limited.
Breakfast wasn't good at all. There was a noisy generator in my room at night. Light sleepers will keep vigil until its turned off. Local Language is used while checking in a client how, are we supposed to get important information in different language.Rooms: 2/5
We had a good stay. Location is good, you can walk to restaurants and shops. Customer service was excellent. The staff went out of their way to assist us with an early check in. We would definitely stay again.Rooms: 4/5
The hotel is in the same state as South Africa.... So much potential but neglected. It is old and needs a proper facelift. Ironically, the facelift seems to be happening at the time of writing this but we were never informed so there is scaffolding everywhere... Hammering and lots of construction noise. I paid a fortune for a premium room and experience, instead I received a room with old dirty carpets, cigarette burns around the bath tub, scratched headboard. Breakfast is a joke with everything running on empty, a scramble to find spoons. They only have one elevator working and breakfast / dinner is served on the 9th floor... What I paid for is certainly not what I got. The bright side is that some of the servers at breakfast were very friendly and their smiles helped to forget about the unpleasantries. Things go wrong in life, it's how it's fixed that makes the difference. The manager, Nosi, went out of her way to make our stay better and she is a true gem and made this trip worth it. I hope Holiday Inn management takes note of this and give Nosi the credit she deserves. I enjoyed my stay at southern sun Sandton,the staff very friendly and helpful,the food out of this world,the service is tops,I am definitely coming back soon Nearby activities: Malls
I was left stranded at the mall when the last shuttle to the hotel was scheduled for 9pm and I waited outside at the pick up point from 8:59 until 9:45 on when I then called the reception who told me the shuttle left at 9pm. However I was waiting there and no shuttle came, I was there with atleast 9 others who had to take a taxi. I ended up ordering 2 Ubers which have specific pick up points and for some reason they do not come to the entrance of malls. Being 10 pm it was very dangerous to walk outside the mall to their pick up points. I cancelled 2 Ubers who would not come to the entrance, and then eventually a 3rd Uber came and picked us up. This extremely inconvenienced us, and was frankly dangerous. On the first night in the hotel electricity cut off while I was watching a movie on Netflix and the WiFi was not even on a back up. I understand there’s loadshedding but a hotel should atleast have back up lights and WiFi. At the very least. I went to sleep without finishing the movie.
Perfect location, good staff on site, awesome pool and view. Close to other spots and easy to Uber to and from. Would rather do breakfast at another restaurant as meat free options were limited for a vegetarianRooms: 5/5
