We did a day hike with a large group. We began by doing the 12km route but ended up doing a whopping 20km+! On the route back or entire group got horribly lost and all attempted to retrace our route, even using the map provided and GPS. The markings could be much better. Some are missing, damaged and too far apart, especially higher up the mountain. I would suggest marking rocks along routes. We were worried we'd be lost when night fell. Began hike around 8/9 and by 4 we were still lost. Beautiful views and scenery but definitely not for new hikers or kids. Trails include climbing some rocky areas as well as slippery spots near the river. Beautiful rock pool to swim in. Unfortunately this place is NOT pet friendly, which was a bit of a letdown. Art and sculptures in reception are beautiful though!
Giving the hiking trail 5 stars. Beautiful trail, beautiful view not forgetting the amazing rocks and waterfall. - Challenging requires fitness. - Waterfall and pools - Not for beginners. But if you are fit you can challenge yourself.
We were a big family of 16, many stayed in the camping grounds and I was glamping in the chalets, big and spacious room with full kitchen and bathroom, very comfortable, I don't recall loadshedding hitting us ever. The hiking trail was really beautiful, rock pools, waterfalls, and nature at its best. We did the 4.5km as we had small children joining. It was not to technical but still felt like a good hike! Would have loved to have done the 12km. I'll be back for this soon.
We were there as day visitors for the hiking trail. No booking was required before hand but did inform Renee and Iain of our intention to visit. We were provided with contact details of the contact person we should reach out to on arrival in order to gain access to the property. Upon arrival we received a warm reception and was given a short induction into the trail as well as the trail map. We took the 12+ km trail which was moderate. The trail however does require vigilance due to loose rocks and slippery pathways in some sections of the trail. The trail is properly marked but did not in some instances that the signage was washed away or obstructed by grass and so forth. Keep a look out to avoid going off trail. Overall, the trail is beautiful with picture perfect scenery. The end of the trail is cooled off by Anton Smit Sculpture walk which we enjoyed so much. At the end of the hike, just remember to call the contact person to ensure that they open the gate to exit.
We came for the hiking trails and were. It disappointed. Highly recommend checking it out, definitely plan on staying over next time. The trails are also very well marked 10/10
We just went there for the hiking trail but didn't stay in the accommodation. A 12km walk through the property with stunning rock formations and even a crystal clear pool for a quick dip. The gardens at the lodge are full of beautiful works of art by local artists. The hike is well marked and if you not up to 12km, the is a shorter option of around 4km.
Me and my girlfriend had the pleasure of staying there between the 1st of December to the 4th of December and our stay was so worth it, the place is nice and peaceful with beautiful scenery. The Cottage was to died for very neat and spacious. Keep up the good work MilorhoRooms: 5/5
We 4 ladies went for a day hike, 12km trail yesterday 28/05/2022. Paid a R100 each. The gentleman and lady who welcomed us were very friendly. The route was thoroughly explained to us with some humour thrown in, loved it! The trail was moderate with beautiful views. We loved the water, the sound of water from the streams,oh boy! It was like the streams just popped up around us. The rock formations; we loved these too. We spent time around the rocks trying to figure the animals which the rocks resembles, hey we enjoyed these! We got to the rock pools; very well prepared for them, we got into our swim-gear and jumped in. Warning: natural change-rooms used. The water was cold at first but our bodies adjusted to the temperature and we had a time of our lives in the water, spend more time here as well. In short, we arrived at 07:30 from Jhb and left at 14:00. I'd recommend this to anyone wanting to experience trails out of Gauteng, and on that note this trail unlike some we've been to, had less traffic.
Beautiful weekend getaway in the bush. Units are clean will definitely on the list for getaways.Rooms: 5/5
