Mitchell's Plain District Hospital Trauma Unit/ Emergencies

I was sent to the hospital by my doctor, when I got there I literally sat the whole day without being assisted and then decided to leave and they only let me leave after they signed the paper to say I left out of my own will, then got a bill from the hospital and because I did not Pay it yet they want to take me further, when in fact they didn't help me so what are they charging me for? I'll pay the bill but I'll never set foot here again. So thank you for nothing!

Had to rush my daughter to closest hospital on Saturday 15/10/2022 at approximately 3 AM.Security allowed me to drive straight to ambulance entrance.Porter immediately available with a wheelchair,took us to emergency ward.We were immediately attended to by a female doctor,very professional in her approach and understanding.She explained what medical procedures they will follow and promised to keep me updated.I proceeded to waiting room and the doctor came to see me about an hour later.She explained that my daughter will be admitted ,she's doing fine and best thing for me is to go home.She promised to contact me later during the day.I went home and doctor called me updating me and giving ward details for visiting hours.One always read or hear bad reviews regarding state run hospitals,but Mitchell Plain Hospital deserve all the praise I can give.Staff professional and really go the extra mile.

My dads been waiting to see a Dr from 1 Feb 2023 at 3pm until now. It's 2 Feb 2023 at 07:11am and still has not seen a Dr. He slept there overnight in a chair waiting for a Dr. Non patients are not allowed to sit with him. This non delivery service happens with every visit. The service the hospital claims to offer is terrible. MP Hospital!? , what is your solution to provide a service your claim you offer online?

I have had a few experiences at MPDH for both myself and my children and I must be honest, I have never had a bad experience. I’ve also sat and waited in trauma in the middle of the night and the truth is, the dr’s are inundated with gunshot and stab wound patients. I’ve seen with my own eyes. They are hectic busy and don’t avoid patience cos they don’t feel lus to see you. They do get to everyone eventually. Anyway, it’s only like that in trauma, once you get admitted or go to OPD then it’s very different.

Honestly won't recommend this hospital. The staff are so rude and there is no compassion or humanity. Especially in the KMC ward. My stay at this place was depressing and stressful. The facilities aren't good either as the ward room I'm in, the staff come and go to use the bathroom there which I feel isn't right. If you complain about anything, the nursing staff have terrible attitude when dealing with you in particular. The worst place.

I recently gave birth at this facility and I was very impressed with the way me and my baby were treated , we both successfully came home healthy, the staff all together are amazing !!

Why is the service at this hospital so bad??? If you go in u sit more then a day to be helped & when u fone in u hold a whole R50's airtime out without speaking to anybody. Nobdy is allowed to just walk in to find out sumthing then u get chased out like a dog & when u fone nobody answers!!! Pathetic!

Staff nd doctors here are very friendly and helpful nd have a lot of patience...Was very impressed with their services.They work fast nd efficient,I can see team work is very important here . Security need to work on their people skills.....

You are appreciated by my family and myself. I have received wonderful assistance from the nurses at this hospital. It takes alot to do the job you do. You don't deserve people treating you badly. It's not easy to handle so many impatient people . Thank you for your service .

Baby was transferred to NEONATAL department at lentegeur District Hospital, from GSH KMC. I don't know why Groote schuur. Delayed process as I couldn't be with baby like the rest of the mum's knowing what i went through. I expected more support but was left with alot of anger i cried bitterly at home.I asked the doctors for referral as Groote schuur far from home and District Hospital nearby.The sister in charge at Groote schuur was in her feelings and didn't like that idea at all possibly due to my traumatic experience that occured due to my health condition. WHEN my baby arrived at Neonatal in lentegeur I was shocked to find out that baby progressed alot baby was fine and could sleep by me what a relief.feeding tube was removed and I started to cup feed lol had bottle in bag and baby was very hungry nurses was very professional and so compassionate they even removed my stitches. The night nurse that did her rounds was a doll she checked on baby to see if he's breathing and if we ok ...Then I would wake up even put blankies over us. The other nurse was inconsiderate and mean didn't check up on us didn't talk at all she wore glasses night nurse too.The experience I had with them was on point compared to what I went through at the trauma side, they need to step up.its horrible how they threat people at that side. If you can't be polite and love what you do then leave take another profession nobody has time for drama.The Hospital has alot of potential I would recommend it to anyone who would speak there mind. Because there's rude nurses and doctors at hospital who's very unkind and I felt very uncomfortable sore whilst I was in such alot of pain waiting to be helped for hours. There's also alot of space on premises !!!that can be used for vegetable gardening to feed the needy children in diverse communities. Would like to know what the Governments plans to do with the grounds as it's enormous.
