Designed to bring an authentic safari experience in traditional East African style to Kwa-Zulu Natal, Rhino Sands Safari Camp is an 8-bed luxury tented camp set on a peninsula in the Msunduze River in Manyoni Private Game Reserve. Rhino Sands Safari Camp is the vision of the owner-management team from Rhino River Lodge created to offer safari guests an intimate way to reconnect with nature and one another. The safari experience has been crafted with an eye towards classical elegance, with intimate hosted meals dining on fine local cuisine, romantic sundowner stops, and entertaining evenings with your ranger around a camp fire.

The most incredible place I have ever stayed. I chose Rhino Sands because it felt like an intimate place with only four tents available. The tents are so luxurious! It was pretty cold in the mornings and nights but the heated blankets helped. The staff was amazing! They took such great care of my husband and I on our honeymoon. Storm always made sure we were doing great and kept us filled up with drinks. Chris was always checking in on us as well. The food was absolutely delicious and felt like a five star restaurant. Our ranger, Jonno was great! He tracked animals so effortlessly even in the dark. I don’t know how he does it. The first 2 nights we only had one family on the camp with us and then the last night two other couples came in. It was so fun to hang out with the staff and guests around the campfire. The lions got so close to camp the last night that we fell asleep to lion roars which is so cool. We were so sad to leave and cannot wait to come back one day. HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

First of all, thank you so much for doing everything to give us the best experience we could imagine. All the staff did an extraordinary job, and everyone was super friendly and helpful. Shortly after arriving, we felt like we were part of the family. A big thank you goes to the chefs who did an excellent job adapting to our plant-based diet. Every meal was different and delicious. They get very creative to make every day somehow unique and different. For example, once, as a surprise, dinner was prepared and served around a bonfire outside of the lodge. To mention one. Our guide did a fantastic job. Every drive was somehow unique. With his lovely attitude, tremendous knowledge, and professionalism, we learned so much new stuff about all the animals and plants and also had fun all the time. As the lodge isn't that big and they have two vehicles, we were never more than four people in one car, which was great. The luxury tents are furnished with love and were another highlight of our stay. Our favorites were the private pool, outdoor shower, vintage bathtub, and cozy seating area from which we could see the animals around the tent while having a drink. Besides, the bed was super comfortable. Furthermore, we highly appreciate the many environmental efforts Rhino Sands take to keep its footprint as low as possible. Sustainable building materials, biodegradable soaps, and reusable water bottles for every guest are only a few examples. If you're looking for a Safari Lodge that is truly eco-friendly and treats every guest as a family member, then you definitely have to choose Rhino Sands.
Rhino Sands was amazing. From the time we arrived and greeted by staff with a warm towel and a drink, everything just kept getting better. The chef was excellent. Food was superb, and so was the wine selection, and our tent was awesome with heated beds! We were in tent 1 of 4 so we had a great view of the watering hole/river. Privacy was not an issue as the tents were far apart. The game drives were excellent. Our driver Josh was the best! He was so knowledgeable and we always felt safe and well taken cared for. I highly recommend Rhino Sands!
A once in a lifetime kind of experience. I could not speak more highly of this place. From their immaculate attention to detail, delicious gourmet meals, knowledgable staff, conservation efforts...the list goes on. Seriously, staying at Rhino Sands was an experience I will keep forever – or at least until my next visit there, which I'm 100% going to do.
My father and I stayed at Rhino sands and had the most incredible experience! They do an incredible job of making you feel like family during your stay. The small 4 tent lodge makes every event personal and allows you get to truly know the employees and other guests. Rhino Sands achieves near perfection in every aspect of a safari lodge. The guides are insightful and full of knowledge, the animals on the reservation are beautiful, the rooms are luxurious while also making you feel one with nature, the food is spectacular and the people are caring and compassionate. I would recommend Rhino Sands to anyone who would like a once in a lifetime experience.
Wonderful safari camp located in a forest, overlooking a dry riverbed. RHINO SANDS includes 4 safari tents and a main tent with lounge and dining. The tents are extremely spacious and classy and include an indoor as well as outdoor shower and a somewhat cold pool. There is also a bathtub. Everything is in best condition and very clean. From the spacious deck the animals in the riverbed can be observed. The service was first class and attentive from the first minute, every wish is read from the eyes. The food is excellent, as is the setting around the boma. The game drives were informative and entertaining. Best thanks to Jonno for his excellent driving skills and interesting explanations. All in all a unique experience that you have to treat yourself to.
Trip of a lifetime! Everything was amazing and above our expectations! Every detail was thought of - from warm fires and coffee before a morning drive to personalized sundowners on top of leopard mountain watching the sunset! The rooms were large, clean, comfortable, and decorated beautifully. You felt immersed in the bush and could hear and see animals from your tent. The food was authentic, delicious and the chef tailored the meals to our preferences. The game drives, led by Anton, were incredible! We saw lions, buffalo, cheetah, rhino, elephants, zebra and so much more! Anton is the “bush boss” and knew the animals behaviors - all the other lodges’ guides were radioing Anton to find out where the animals were!! The best part of all of this was the people at Rhino Sands, especially the manager Nic and Anton. They were not only so accommodating, but took the time to get to know us and made us feel like family. Every staff member was kind and professional. Rhinos Sands is a beautiful, wild experience in the bush with some of the best people South Africa has to offer! I was sad to leave this wonderful place!
OH. MY. GOODNESS. Magical. Amazing. Incredible. Wonderful, dare I say, perfect. Rhino Sands actually blew my expectations, and my expectations were pretty high. I just loved every single moment. The food was magnificent, the staff were flawless, and we even got a full moon. Manyoni is such a beautiful place. My soul is full. THANK YOU.
