The African Elephant

I have to change my 5* review. It used to be a favourite restaurant. Today however I was very dissapointed. I always order the chicken skewer , use to be bone and skinless. Today 5 pieces with skin and a lot of bones and tasteless. The pumpkin was watery.... see photo, also they didnt have Sprite zero, though Spar is a few metres away. There were also 3 mistakes on the bill.

We ate both of our nights in Sabie at the African Elephant restaurant. We enjoyed it very much. First time we had a special, the traditional Potjie stew. I had oxtail my friend had lamb, both were very tasty. Then we asked the restaurant for a Bobotie for our second night. They didn’t have it on the menu but they were so kind to prepare it specifically for us. It was also really good and tasty as well. We also tried the baked cheesecake and malva pudding, both were lovely as well. We had a wonderful time and the staff was super friendly, as was the owner. The fireplace was perfect, as we were visiting at the start of winter.

I had Springbok Carpaccio and it was perfect from presentation to stomach. I recommend everyone that pass through Sabie to make a turn at the African Elephant.Food: 5/5

We have stopped here for a quick lunch and it has exceeded our expectations - local trout is very much recommended! When we were there, the waitress was the only one serving customers, so it might have created some waiting time, but it was not critical. And the view is really best in town - sit outside, if it is not too cold. Thank you to the team! Parking: There is a guy "guarding" the parking - and some parking spaces can be monitored from the restaurant, if you want to keep an eye on your car.

This was THE BEST experience!!! Thank you to the BEST waitress Freda with the bubbliest personality that made us feel so welcomed and special! And thank you to the BEST chefs, Prisca ounooi and Mammiki for the absolute best meal we have had in ages! A 5 out of 5 is to little of a rating! I would like to score you guys a 110%!!!!!Food: 5/5

I loved the waitress Frida! She had so much energy. The food was nice, the local fish is good choise. I had the tomahawk and nice also. All in all very nice place to have a dinner. Vegetarian options: The pizza was certainly nice!

Average restaurant due to some items not available. But our waiter, Luna, deserves more than 5 stars. Without her, the restaurant would have earned fewer stars. Some of the food was overcooked, and the other was perfect.Food: 4/5

Very good service. The Eisbein was lekker. Drinks came fast. I recommend you stop here for a drink and some chow. Thanks guys

We stopped here for a quick bite. Amazing food steak grilled to perfection. Friendly staff, knowing we where not from around here she pointed out a few places and told us about about the area. A must add on your trip!!!

The meals and meat were cooked to perfection. The "Chef's Specialities" were awesome. We loved the atmosphere and the great service.Food: 4/5
