The Hussar Grill Montecasino

The atmosphere was lovely and service was good. The food was alright, well above average but nothing stood out in particular. I got the T-Bone in medium rare. It was juicy and tender at some parts and a bit tough at others. It was inconsistent. The prawns were alright but definitely overpriced. The starter calamari and snails were quite tasty, and the desserts were quite well done.

I made an online booking for a table of 4 which was a smooth process. We were seated promptly on arrival. The starters arrived timeously and it was very tasty. The mains arrived shortly thereafter and it was all superbly prepared. The portions are ample so takeaways were in order. A beautiful restaurant with classy decor and settings. This is a restaurant for adults and self indulgence from the menu to the drinks so it’s not child-friendly unfortunately as there’s not much available for a child’s palate. There are however various other family oriented restaurants available within the establishment. Overall delicious food and a wonderful experience. I would like to congratulate Chris, Brian and Team for the absolutely fantastic food and service.  The food was absolutely delicious, i had no complaints.. The starter, crumbed and baked camembert...so soft and creamy... So scrumptious. The lamb shank was so soft and juicy and the mash so buttery and delicious.  The aroma from this dish was so amazing. The baked cheesecake.... WOW... This is the best baked cheesecake I've eaten. The service was fantastic... .  We were well looked after. Aar one of the managers was so sweet and lovely. Chris @ Hussar Grill, you are fantastic, you and your staff far exceeded my expectations....Thank you

Had dinner with my family last night at the Hussar Grill Monte Casino. We ordered the bone marrow and calamari for starters. The calamari was a definite hit for for all us. 2 Reef and Beefs with prawns which they enjoyed and 2 Hussar Carpetbaggers, with mushroom sauce instead of the mustard. My son liked it but it wasn't to my taste at all. I guess it was the smoked oyster combination that didn't quite work for me, that particular flavour was quite over powering in the dish. The setting itself was cramped especially where we were directly across the bar and on the other side the kitchen. The noise levels we absolutely could not handle. Overall a very average experience for that price R350 - R400 and the environment does not accommodate for a beautiful evening out with great conversations because you cannot even hear each other nor the waiters. PS: be prepared to wait a while for your meals too.

Talk about fancy.... I hear the half chicken with lemon and herb and it was so fresh, flavourful and the chicken want drie. The one thing that really stood out for me was the amount of choices you have for sides. They've got a lot. We did the date night special and it's really value for your money. I'd go back to try other menu items.Food: 4/5

We had a delightful evening at Hussar Grill. Although I was running late and missed my reservation my table was still kept for me. My husband and I celebrated our 22nd wedding anniversary on th 10/02/2023 and Hussar Grill made our celebration so special. We loved and enjoyed every bit. Our waitress, Prudence was lovely. She was on point. The food was delicious, I had the queen prawns and my husband had the lamb shank. I was definitely in my happy place.We were even surprised with a card as well as a surprise dessert. I would highly recommend Hussar Grill Monte Casino to my friends a family. Thank u Guys for making our night so precious and special.

Great staff and super friendly service. The meat was excellent and way better than the meat in any restaurant in France. The South African wine Meerlust Rubicon was better than any wine I ever tasted "Made in France" but the français insiste... Food: 5/5

Came here with 10 people to celebrate my Mother's birthday and could not have been more impressed. The set menu was excellent value and the staff were lovely - friendly and accommodating to her mobility problems. Monte is a bit of a maze, but when we eventually found the place, we loved it. My second visit to a Hussar restaurant and both visits were memorable for all the right reasons! We will be back!

I would recommend this restaurant anytime! This restaurant's atmosphere is cosy and lovely. The food is amazing!!! And the added extras make you evening very special! The cost of a glass of wine is exactly a third of a bottle, their food is reasonably priced and the quality of their meat is definitely the best I have had in a restaurant. Can't wait to visit them again!

Excellent service. Superb Springbok steak. Tasty spinach - good side dish to have. Good wine to choose from. It is one of the restaurants at Monte Casino where you can sit outside, but beware if there are loud music on the square. Better to set inside then. The music was so loud outside that we couldn’t hear each other. The restaurant is spacious. You don’t feel cramped.
