I canceled my Membership with virgin active in May 2023 and you have deducted a membership fee this month. I have repeatedly sent emails to be contacted and nobody is responding, this is unethical
Arguably the best gym in the South of Joburg. It’s a world class gym facility with two swimming pools, 3 studios, excellent cardio equipment, all-inclusive weights section, generous changeroom facilities, sauna, steamroom, Club-V for the kids and, a Kauai eatery. There’s also ample security-controlled parking. All the equipment is well-maintained, the club is spotless and the staff members are extremely professional. There are a couple of running groups who use the gym as a start / finish point. They’ll help you tackle the punishing hills of Glenvista and surrounds. The classes are very popular hence booking is essential.
This Virgin Active has to do something about their receptionists. Before I even wrote this review, I read through the others and the comment on RUDE & UNHELPFUL receptionists keeps coming up so now I am not surprised I received such terrible service today. THEN when you ask to speak to a manager you are sent from pillar to post & when I finally got ahold of the manager, I was placed on the speaker for all to hear since I declared that I have a complaint about receptionists behaviour! Overall this place is giving bad vibes!
Good gym with a range of facilities, but I mainly use the pool as a swimmer. It is in need of much work, the floor is stained brown, chipped and cracked. It is desperately in need of repair and care.
Found a wedding band in the pool. Wanted to give my cell No in so that people could phone with a description to get it back. The front desk insisted I hand it to them...no log book, no receipt, no proof of hand over, nothing! They insist a small safe, to which others have the code, is good enough to control the item! I hope the rightful owner gets the ring back
With the new equipment recently being installed - they've elevated it one step further. It now looks very impressive and up the level of some of the best virgin active gyms
Went to gym on the Tuesday the equipment was out of order for repair, go back on the Thursday and guess what same equipment is still under repair, for a gym that is so busy and has such a small weight section that shouldn't happen, people pay their fees, maintain the equipment. Some nights when you need motivational music, you can't concentrate because it seems like a staff member has plugged in their phone and is listening to his/her favorite music, that isn't suitable for training music, totally rediculous. This gym does not uphold a good standard at all. Winter the staff feel they need the gym to be warmer, so the aircon heat is turned up, to bad for the gym members who are training and need to be cool. The gym that keeps giving bad service, had 3 members sitting on equipment in a row blocking the way watching the local soccer on the TV. Nothing gets done.
Can't stay away from this wow wow place. Instructors are they actually dedicated to their job. Keep it up all of you guyz. Our brothers and sisters who are keeping the place clean always Big hugs to you. We . At the reception you ladies and gentlemen
They could warm up the pool since it is winter and clean those pools that shouldn't be hard
The gym itself is modern and clean, but they stack up all the gym equipment right next to each. The space upstairs is spacious, yet they choose to shove the weight training equipment all to one side of the gym. They have one seated calf machine, one seated leg/hamstring machine and two leg press machines, all this for a gym that gets full during peak hours. The indoor heated swimming pool also causes hot humid air to rise to the top, which causes the training area to get hot and uncomfortable, not even the air-cons help. Very disappointed with the layout of the gym. If you are serious about weight training, find another gym.
