We made reservations for an Easter Sunday dinner arriving on time and we were promptly seated.
Service from the gentleman that took care of us on this visit was excellent and extremely prompt. We were served the standard starting fare of Apple Fritters with Apple Butter and a small glass containing a drink they refer to as an Apple Julep. The drink was extremely tart and not very pleasant to consume. Just far too for sour. The meal consisted of what is considered standard menu for the Applewood Farmhouse.
On this evening we were well fed however the family style meal included two items that were not the best that we always had there. The mashed potatoes were dry and like the green beans were somewhat lacking with regard to seasoning. All of the main entrees were excellent and extremely well prepared. I would like to see them watch holding times on the vegetables a little closer. Other than that this visit was extremely pleasant and as usual close to excellence.

NOT FOR VEGETARIANS. However, what can you expect from coming to a Tennessee "home cooking" restaraunt. That's the only reason for the 4 star. The pinto and green beans, and collard greens have ham mixed in, and the okra is fried with the chicken oil. Even the vegetable soup is beef broth. The chicken salad, however, I ordered without chicken (came with bacon on top, so ask about that, too) and it was beautiful! It was huge, and with mashed potatoes, I couldn't finish the salad. This place is beautiful, as well. The staff is fantastic, friendly, and fast. Our waiter was Mr. Josh D, and he was super courteous, friendly, and cracked jokes with us! He helped me figure out what I could eat and what I couldn't. Highly recommend this place, but if you don't eat meat, either bring something or just the salad.

Whenever we visit the area, almost always it's one of our dining stops.
Place is always welcoming and like the way the staff treats us. It's as if we're in their home and we're their guest.
My go to dish is the Southern Fried Chicken. Freshly cooked, crispy, moist, and juicy. I can't skip it!
Others will order their own dish but I will always order the Southern Fried Chicken.
We'll be back next time we're in town.

Very nice place to visit in the area. This is a great choice for tourists as it is right off the main strip and is not a chain. The food is well done and the portions are more than reasonable. The decor is a tad odd, it feels like a hunting club in Vermont circa 1983, but that seems to be the look in the area.
